That's good to know too, maybe perhaps without noticing it I've been doing that too. I will try use it today monitoring my fingers and making sure I don't press the side at all, and see if that effects it.

Does yours scramble around in landscape mode too? Mine does.

Yes, and frequently scrambles when switching between landscape and portrait. Sometimes it also scrambles when I take the stylus out, and it's laying flat without my hands on it at all, so .... crap.

Gonna flash back to the stock ROM now and see how it goes...

Edit - Here is a thread with similar problems, where the consensus seems to be hardware... :/

Well... back in the Alltel stock ROM and sure enough, as soon as I get into the photographs stored in the SD card, it starts skewing. Guess I'm going to the store tomorrow, hopefully this isn't an insurance issue but just a defective product thing...

****.
Saves me the trouble of switching back to the original ROM.

I'd go and switch mine with another (if bestbuy allows) but I don't wanna lose all my contacts, messages, data, and whatnot.

Any suggestions to avoid this, other than writing everything down?

Re: Didn't take long to break it...

You'll want to switch back to the stock ROM if you take it in. I think for your contacts and messages, they can all be transferred with PIMbackup or a similar program.

I might be hosed though, I flashed to a different carrier's radio and I can't flash back. Might be better off just running the thing over with my car and doing an insurance replacement...

no, don't break it, I wouldn't worry about the radio being different.. you, can always flash just the radio ver you want.

Taking it in to the Alltel corp store in a couple of hours. Hopefully because it's within the first 30 days, it wont actually be a warranty issue and I can get a replacement same day, but I don't have my hopes up. Last thing I want is a refurb replacement with a crappy keyboard so I can get those issues instead of the display issues...

Re: Didn't take long to break it...

Well, just got back with my new phone.

Gotta say I'm a little stoked... the phone feels much more sturdy, the keyboard slides out firmly and smoothly, without that strange tactile grinding feel of the old phone. Volume keys are more responsive, and the case doesn't squeak.

Only problem is, twice already since getting it, I've managed to lock it up while navigating quickly through the menus. I assume that's something I can fix by flashing a custom ROM that handles memory management better, but sorta thinking it might be better just to take it back before doing anything else to it, since it happened twice in 30 minutes.

Also... with the old phone, I had hard reset after flashing to the stock ROM, but *not* after putting on different radio and relocking it. My paranoia leads me to believe this is a bad thing, and that the Alltel Police are gonna show up and take away my toys.

Edit - Thanks for all the advice and help, guys!

My first TP did the exact same video skewing all over the screen. Now.. my keyboard seems to have failed with the replacement TP...
