Re: Alltel Touch Pro to Verizon, please help.
Doesn't have to be a phone that's already active. Two of the Alltel ones I have activated I bought from their kiosk at the mall full price. The one I use daily is off eBay--brand new. If option 3 doesn't work for you, your local towers haven't been updated to pass the ESN/MEID to the DMD yet. Either sit still until you can activate it or call up Verizon and ask them to port you over (take it to a corporate location to get it flashed or do it yourself and tell the tech). It's not really a long or a procedure to get mad over...be kind and karma will smile on you. Last phone I activated I spent a total of 7 minutes on the phone (used my Alltel TP to call...stupid Verizon, charging me minutes for calling support! lol). ~12 hours after the call I get a call from a different person telling me that my Alltel device is ready to be ported over to Verizon and we spent the next 10 minutes getting the phone setup correctly (getting everything from the guide put into the phone, most of the time was spent hard resetting to get the phone to grab the DMU keys). If you're acting like a know it all *******, of course they're gonna tell you to either wait or say no flat out. The merger isn't fully complete yet, there are techs working 24/7 to get the two companies made into one. If you find treat everyone you call like they're there just to help YOU and no one else, of course they'll hang up. I'm not gonna walk into a McDee's and ask the cashier I want a DQ Blizzard. If I ask nicely if they'd do something special with their McFlurry, of course she'll help me out :)

Re: Alltel Touch Pro to Verizon, please help.
I am recommending that we file a compliant with FCC against Verizon for not honoring their customer agreement to allow other CDMA phones on their network. Link below. I already filed one and it two about two minutes.. Let's make them pay.

Re: Alltel Touch Pro to Verizon, please help.
A quick question: When I load a verizon prl, my phone won't dail*228. It doesn't do anything. If I use alltels prl, it dials into alltel. When I first got the phone I loaded a vzw prl and hit *228, used programing and all worked. I was working on the data end of things, and it reverted back to alltel, now when i reload the vzw prl it doesn't work. any thoughts??

thats not true due to the fact that verizon has also bought some gsm based companies http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verizon...nd_Divestments two dont forget they are %45 owned by vodafone who is a gsm based company.( who are also the reason it is so easy to unlock a blackberry storm) and third lte is being broadcasted in test markets right now, and is said to be somewhat backward compatible with gsm phones!! |
Re: Alltel Touch Pro to Verizon, please help.
what is the update here? I'm a VZW customer and like the look at specs of the Alltel TP better, and let say I get one from ebay, PRL update it and what ever else needed, will I be able to get it activated on VZW or will I run into an issue getting it activated? Would they still require the use of a data plan? Or has the hole been plugged on this matter?

Re: Alltel Touch Pro to Verizon, please help.
Yeah as I vzw customer I want the better Alltel Touch Pro, so what can I do to get it working. I don't care for data working as I don't have data service(I have the old Samsung i730 with no data and love all the other features it comes with). Thank you.

Re: Alltel Touch Pro to Verizon, please help.
about the prl issues first, i have a sprint touch pro that is on the verizon network with a modified prl so when i dial *228 it goes to verizon, the thing is, i don't use it to update my prl, i actually just keep the modified prl that i have and i'm good for now
i use the sprint 1.12.34F radio and 1.53_003 which gives me good reception and my gps works, i've tried some other combinations and my gps seems to give me problems or work at all which i don't like because i use google maps now as far as getting your alltel touch pro added to verizons database, it's super hard to do if you can even get it done, i went into verizon stores, i talked to tons of people at verizon, i even had a lady fill out a request over the phone and pass it on to some higher ups to which she called me back and said that they were not going to add my phone to their database, i ended up getting it to work but i can't really tell you how i did it, all i can say is that i searched for sprint to verizon touch pro and that i was already on verizons network with another phone |
