As far as outside equipment on VZW, it's seems to be hit and miss. It tends to depend on which tech you get when you call to activate your phone. Maybe with persistance you will be successful.

Well I really hope that they will start letting these phones be activated on VZW. I just bought an Alltel Touch Pro off of ebay and was really hoping that I could get it on VZW. Now after reading all this I am not so sure its going to be an easy thing. If anyone has had any success story please post it here and possibly EXACTLY what you did. I love my touch pro but I like one that isn't crippled with less ram, plus i do like the aesthetics of the alltel version.

UPDATE:

Last night about midnight I started receiving the last two days text messages on my Touch Pro. So it seems that they WILL work on Verizon's network. So every function I use, SMS, MMS, Internet, weather, everything works.... texts between Alltel/Verizon customers (verified this morning) and other networks (at least AT&T, again verified this morning)

So if you have not bought another phone, don't, at least until the cutoff date (mine was July 12)

Has this happened to anyone else?

I just got off a 2 hour call with verizon tech support. He said if you have a legacy number with Alltel (the phone number started with Alltel) they'll move it to verizon otherwise it will never happen...he also said don't believe everything you read on a forum, what a ****! If someone knows anyway of getting th the MEID and ESN on to verizon, let me know

IMPORTANT!!! For your Alltel TP, I uploaded VZW's PRL that was modified (by whom, I cannot remember) but, I get full signal in all my old VZW areas with my Alltel phone. I have since done the same for a few friends at work. When I called Alltel CS, they told me I have no roaming charges showing and shouldn't because of the plan I'm on. (Don't tell them about VZW PRL)

This is one of the reasons I am switching back to GSM carriers. The MEID/ESN is reallyy the holly graille of CDMA.
