Re: Alltel Touch Pro to Verizon, please help.

The AAA code and the HA shared secret code can be given to you, but the higher up techs are the only dept that can see the codes, They are blocked off from even sups in the regular tech depts. The HA Key is made via algorithm from the min (IMSI) and the esn. Its that you have to get to the right department which can actually see it and, honestly, know what an HA key is. the AAA key is commonly the esn. Since most of Verizon tech is contracted out, they have a restricted view of information like that. The AAA key should be easier to receive.

I do not mean to sound like an ***, so forgive me if I do; but you should not post information of which you are at best, not certain, and at worse have no clue what you are talking about. I have an Alltel Touch Pro, on my Verizon account, and know for a fact that the information you provided was not accurate and could be misleading to anyone who should read it.

Re: Alltel Touch Pro to Verizon, please help.

Umm, I have a Alltel TP, I had to follow the directions to the letter to get it working. The merger has happened only on paper thus far. The two companies are still operating independently (you can go sign up for a new Alltel account). The directions are REQUIRED, although not all of it. I'll post up a cleaned up version when I get around to it, but I know for certain (I have activated 20+ Alltel/Sprint Diamonds and Pros on Verizon using te guide) that the modifications are needed.

Ron is correct. The instructions he posted were from a thread that has "disappeared" that was created long ago for Sprint TP owners(the Alltel TP had not yet launched) wanting to get their device on VZW. As such, alot of the instructions are Sprint TP specific. For example, virtually everything about changing the MSL for instance is not valid for the Alltel TP since it uses a defaut MSL code of 000000 just lke VZW does.

I'm hoping to find this out. I was hoping mine would be here by now but the eBayer hasn't delivered yet. Maybe today if it was USPSed. Otherwise, better be Monday.

Can you expand on this any? By manual programming is that the same as we do now? If there is anything you dont think should be put in the open forum feel free to PM me.

Re: Alltel Touch Pro to Verizon, please help.

Our company has about 50 phones through Alltel. Two of us use TP. Our area has been switching over to verizon for a few weeks, and the TP's have horrible reception. I travel extensively and have little to no reception accross the country, even in large cities. We have been in constant contact with our Alltel rep. Yesterday we recieved a call from a verizon tech and he notified us that they are having problems switching the Alltel TP over to their network. He went so far as to tell us to start looking for a new verizon phone. If that in fact turns out to be the case I will be switching to the Blackberry Storm.

Convert Altel Touch Pro to Verizon network

I am fairly new to WinMobile devices and PPCGeeks and hope someone can help me with a question several Alltel users are faced with.

I have searched many threads for information on using my Alltel TP on the Verizon network during this Alltel/Verizon merger and have not found the exact answer I need.

Can you use the Alltel TP as it is and use all the features on the Verizon network, or do I need to change the radio? Or even have to buy the Verizon Touch Pro which I don't want to do because of less RAM and of course the cost. How does the Verizon network see/react to the Alltel version?

I'm running the radio that shipped on the phone but have changed the ROM several times. I'm running the Silence/Mighty ROM for now. How does this fit into the picture?

I believe from what I've read you have "reprogram" the phone by using some * or # codes and don't want to brick it by using a non-stock ROM.

If the answer has already been posted please forgive me, I could not find it. Just point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!
