Wrong. It is clear from the screenshot that he has not setup a "partnership". This is WMDC, not AS, and you never have the device you are installing software/drivers for plugged in while you are installing/reinstalling them.

While this is a good thing to try, it is not something you need to "make sure" of. "Advanced Network functionality" is simply using network/NDIS for communication over USB. Disabling it reverts it to direct/serial USB communication. If it works with NDIS/Advanced Network functionality disabled then is almost a guarantee you have a socket layer(??) issue, most likely a firewall. As mentioned before, disable(or temporarily uninstall) any firewalls or configure your firewall to allow communication for WMDC (wmdHost.exe if I remember correctly) to inbound TCP ports 990, 999, 5678, 5721 and 26675 and outbound UDP port 5679. Let us know how it goes. Need more info.

Re: ActiveSync problem?!?!?!

Also, I distinctly remember a case with someone having a similiar issue where I had them disable Advanced Network functionality, it worked, then turned it back on and it worked with it on....dunno why

Re: ActiveSync problem?!?!?!

I've got an active sync/windows mobile device prob too. (running vista)
Comp went sideways the other day and couldn't access anything, so I disabled UAC and got controll back--now, however when I try to sync w TP it says that I don't have touch pro drivers-"driver did not install" so I removed active sync, windows mobile, and tp user guide. rebooted, re-installed tp user guide (AS would not load so went online and dld windows mobile) pluged in phone and still "drivers did not install" tp charges, phone says "connected to active sync" but comp does not see it??????

You cannot use Activesync on Vista, so don't try. Windows Mobile Device Center is the new "Activesync" for Vista. Need more information. Screenshot or exact/complete error message plus any other details available. Did you try disabling "advanced network functionality" on the device?

Re: ActiveSync problem?!?!?!

I have been having the problems in Vista as well. I Noticed it right after the outlook/office updates were applied the other day.
Now outlook just keeps crashing when the phone is connected.

I seriously doubt you had any "outlook express" updates on Vista. Care to clarify? It is important when troubleshooting to be specific and not confuse one product with another.

And btw, Vista sucks.
