Probably because newbies are told to flash by smart-alecky "experts."

I've seen that all too often in forums like this. Someone has just bought a brand-new Touch Pro, and asks what to do with it. A smart-alecky "expert" tells him to flash it immediately. The smart-aleck is, of course, an utter idiot at best and a malicious prankster at worst.

Flashing your phone is a very drastic and risky action, roughly equivalent to running a beta version of Windows.

LOL, don't think it's quite that bad but I agree 100% that posters need to stop telling a noob to "flash a new ROM" as the first step to a nice working phone.

I am on Mighty 4.16 now, but I has the leaked VZ ROM (Sprint phone) tweaked & running well enough that plenty of people would have been completely happy with that setup.

Re: Why is life so hard with the touch Pro???

I was in your shoes two weeks ago. Tried to flash MightyROM 4:16 and couldn't get it done. Then I decided to read the instructions that members here gave me (always remember to hit the thanks button so they can trade the rep points for wonderful prizes and trips) and once I UNLOCKED the phone, then I flashed.

Once I flashed, I ran into a thousand problems.
No internet.
No GPS.
No Live Search
No TV
But as you read, you find cabs and then you're good to go.

Remember how you learned to ride a bike? Got hurt like 87 times. Pissed your pants twice, then once you got the hang of it, ..... I never actually learned to ride a bike but from what I heard it's fun once you get the hang of it.

A lot of people here will tell you "Search is your friend" which it is, but sometimes you get the great answer of "Ask and ye shall receive". Remember to hit THANKS for those guys. (not the search guys).

LOL, yea those "search Nazi's" get really annoying at times........

I have never once told somebody to "go search" rather than simply answering their question........
