Phone will not hard reset

I've followed the instructions to perform a hard reset:
With the device turned off, press and hold the volume down and enter keys first, and then press and hold the power key.
All I get is the rainbow security screen!
What am I doing wrong?

Re: Phone will not hard reset

Turn the phone on. Press the power button, vol-down key, and center button, then tap the reset button. DO NOT RELEASE ANY OF THE BUTTONS EXCEPT FOR THE RESET BUTTON until the screen comes up.

Also, make sure there's nothing covering the DPad [plastic]. It needs to have your bare finger touching it.

Re: Phone will not hard reset

this is the correct way to do it
everyone else told you how to get into bootloader^

when your phone is turned on,
Hold the center button down and softreset (continue holding the center button down till you see a screen that gives you the option to hard reset)
follow the instructions and your good to go

Umm... what? Holding down the center button and pressing reset doesn't do anything.

I'm definitely right. View my post above.

Re: Phone will not hard reset

Hah. I guess I should've asked if you were using a VZW or Sprint TP. For Sprint, your method doesn't work.

Sorry about that.
