Touch Pro and Garmin Mobile XT

Hey all what are the steps to getting mobile xt going with touch pro gps. I have the unlocked maps on a sd card 2gb. When i hit skip bluetooth i get some things wont work and " cannot unlock maps. just want to use internal gps and not the 10x i bought when i had a mogul thanks I found where you setup hardware com port and software com port i think and the baud rate, just totaly confused, please post the steps its city nav nt v8

Ok, if you just copied and pasted the maps/folder from another card you will need to unlock the maps again. The unlock code is tied only to the SD card and not the program. My suggestion is unlock the maps again, then reinstall Garmin XT to your TP. Then it should be running fine. Plus, make sure your GPS settings say windows manages GPS. That should work. I had the same problem when I transfered my maps to a bigger card. If it all installs right then you shouldn't have to select bluetooth or anythinng it should run great. Also make sure you are running the 5.00.20w version. Hope this helps a lil!

Mike I actually used the garmin disk and unlock codes to copy all 50 states onto sd card. I was asked to provide unlock code and i did regester again. I placed garmin mobile onto my pro as a cab file. how do i reunlock maps again? take them out of phone and place back in card reader? And where do i find windows gps thanks mike oh i dont have v 500.20 its garmin mobile 10 v8

Ok, the gps settings are in start>settings>system>EXTERNAL GPS then hit the ACCESS tab. There you will see Manage GPS automatically....make sure that box is checked. I am not sure how to do it from the disk. I used an ISO of the maps and had to use a keygen to get the code since the maps unlock code is tied to the card and not the phone. As far as the cab that I am not sure of also. The way 5.00.20w installed was it was an exe file I had to run on the computer, then it would install directly to the TP. So as far as a cab for garmin I don't know. If you have any other questions PM me and I hook you up. Hope this helps a lil

That is the ONLY way to unlock the maps if you're using a larger card, every card has a unique ID number (this is the only thing I don't like about XT)

I use XT from a 16 gig card & it works fine.

mike i have that the maps are working fine while using the grey gps receiver i bought from garmin, but when i turn off the gps receiver hit skip bluetooth i get errors, is there a version issue i need to know about? i have disc garmin mobile xt version 8.0 when i bought the package it came with a gps receiver and unlock codes i have been using ssytem fine for two years but now i have the touch and I want to eliminate this gps device . hope this helps thanks for your patience

just spoke to garmin, they said the maps are unlocked to the sd card via the gps receiver, so i cant use internal gps without buying new sd card with unlocked maps 100.00.. boy they know how to alienate existing customer who spent lots on them already thanks anyway Mike
