Maximize battery life...

Any tips to maximize the battery life on my TP? I seem to reach about 40% after maybe an hour or two of moderate/heavy use. My Blackberry Curve could go a 4ish hours while browsing/heavy use (screen always on). TP seems to only do that if I'm watching a video. Seems to get awful hot too...a friend suggest to shut off bluetooth and gps but to my knowledge both are off, yet its still pretty warm to the touch after data use. Haven't tried to see how long it lasts with voice. Can't use the Diamond Config app as it seems to crash on start (tried the Tochpanel registry fix, didn't apply to me). Any tips fellow geeks can share? Really would like to make the battery last at least half a day, then swap out with a spare around lunch.

Re: Maximize battery life...

well your out of luck this time... that the issues with the TP and Diamond that the battery don't even last 4 hours, but your best bet is to turn of wifi, beam, gps, bluetooth, and whenever your not using the internet turn off the data too.

or flash it to another rom like mighty rom that has great battery life, because all of the tweaking inside of it.

but if you want to keep it simple buy an extended battery from seido or mugen from ebay a lil costly but totally worth it, i get two full days on a single charger and heavy use.... hope it help

update: what i heard too, that TF3D also hurt the battery cuz it use a lot of processor speed. (somebody correct me if i'm wrong)

make sure your data connection isnt always on.
also try underclocking your device slightly with this tool --> NUE
if you havent flashed a custom rom i would highly suggest you do that also,
this will greatly increase battery life depending on which one you flash, as they have all of the battery/performance tweaks included!

I cannot stress this enough. Make the data connection turn off when not in use. It will make a world of difference. I had the data connection on while at school, about 2 hours later I was about 40%.

Signal strength is what determines how much batt you phone will use. When I am at home at full EVDO signal, I get a few days out of one charge.

I promise you, get rid of that always on data, and you batt problmes will virtually go away.

A friend of mine sent me this cab a while back and it helped me improve the battery life of my TP and BF's Diamond. Do not know what the tweaks are, but the only thing I know is that it was work for me like a charm.

Try it for yourself and if you do not like it, since it is a cab file, you can just remove it

Sincerely,
Shin_Akuma26

PS: Let me know how it works for you guys and if I helped you somehow press the Thank You button
PS1: I also see that people are having trouble extracting the file from the rar, so I am adding the rar version for PPC. Once you have this is your phone I think it will be easier for all.

yea i hear your pain bro. i hate being married to a flunking cord, thats why i got the extended battery.

but the thing is that they try to put to much stuff like crystal clear screen and a lot of plugins, but havent found a way how to upgrade battery tech to keep up with that..

Well with decent amount of talking and texting ( I txt like crazy ) and some moderate internet browsing with a single charge it lasted almost three days.

@Shin_Akuma26 thanks but I tried that and it worsened my battery life (went from about 5 hours to 3). And please don't make multiple posts...you can edit you know ;)

Seems like an extended battery is my only option, already running Silencerom 9, I'll give Mightyrom a try tomorrow. TF3d off, data always on (need it for push email). I'm a datacenter technician so it's *vital* I'm always reachable by machines if they're having issues. Most of the time I get txt's but I do get email's that I would prefer to be instant, not delayed by x minutes (big leagues...every second down = major $$ lost).

that wouldnt make a difference unless these programs run in the background
but still wouldnt make a 1-2 day difference

Haha sorry it is a cab it is just that I have winrar in the PC and it converted all the cabs to rar haha.

Like I said it worked for me and I am very happy about it. You also have to realize that certain ROMS may override the tweaks of the cab file and might not work for you as well.

Just saying.....

Here is another thing I did in the task manager option it gives you another option that states close programs as soon as you press the X to close them I have that option checked myself so I do not have to worry about programs running in the BG

Hah that would probably do it! I don't remember such a short battery life when I was stock or on Mighty. Definitely flashing back to Mighty tomorrow! Silence is DAMN fast for me, maybe thats why the battery's gone so fast :( Oh well, battery life more important than speed...at least for this phone.

Thanks for the input everyone! I really appreciate it :) Now...someone find me a nice case for the Sprint TP :D preferably with a hard screen cover and not made of metal :P
