Hi,

Any idea what the difference is between SPJ performance hack and the codyppc one that's floating around?

It's here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=41770

I'm really curious as to if the hacks are the same, or if there's anything that's in one but not the other. Thanks!

thanks
no that is a different reg edit
codyppc changes this:

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
Changed limit from 16384 to 32768

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS
Changed - CacheSize to 4096

(NEW!) Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\StorageManager\Filters\f sreplxfilt
Change “ReplStoreCacheSize” dword decimal value to 4096 or 8192 (edit: I find 4096 best, g-funk finds 8192)

while this reg edit changes:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Battery
Default on most roms
PollInterval REG_DWORD 20000-DEC
changed to:
PollInterval REG_DWORD 1250-DEC

Re: Maximize battery life...

OK, thanks. Was there every a clear answer as to why decreasing the poll interval (which this cab seems to do) would help battery life? It seems that it should shorten it.

I think someone mentioned that instead of checking for towers every 1.2 seconds it scans every 20 seconds which not sure but seems would be less taxing on the battery?????

no it checks the battery more often when you lower the number it i thought?
i set mine at 5000 and it seems like the perfect balance

Re: Maximize battery life...

I set my battery poll interval to 45000. I figure at the MOST I would go at least 45 seconds before I needed to check the battery again. If your battery is going down so fast that it actually drops a bar inside of 45 seconds then you have bigger problems than the poll interval. But what I really want to know is how can a lower number help battery life? Maybe I should try it.

Actually, I think the tower polling is a different hack than the battery polling; however, the concept is the same. It seems that it should be: "Smaller numbers = frequent polling = shorter battery life".

Re: Maximize battery life...

i'm so confused....so the cab shortens the time but people saying their battery life increased??? then again some folks increased the time and they saying their battery life increased too???? what to do?

Re: Maximize battery life...

Nothing new to add, but I have to reinforce what has already been stated earlier, you need to ensure that your data connection (3G) is off. Follow this up by making sure any applications that need data are not running. If you use TF3D you might want to uncheck the stock and weather 'automatically update'.

Personally I did these things and still ran into horrible battery issues. I went with a cooked ROM just to try out the improvements and I have to say that I can go all day without charging.

Here is a post I've just updated on this subject.

guys i install it in my diamond using stock rom and radio, and let me tell it really work, i went from 4 hour close to 8 hours now, but i'm still testing it out to see how it goes

the one that i install was the battery performance cab

Re: Maximize battery life...

Can someone list the reg edits for this cab? Is it just battery polling? Or all the power save mode stuff that Advanced Config already has?

Re: Maximize battery life...

So far today I have watched a few Youtube videos, talked on the phone, played some card games and done some texting and I am still at 48% battery life after 9 1/2 hours of usage. I would normally have had it on the charger by now. Seems like an improvement but I can't definitively say so at this point. It definitely hasn't made things worse so I will keep testing.

Can someone explain how polling the battery every 1.25 seconds is more efficient than every 5 seconds (stock) or 45 (my mod)?

i have the answer. It took me a looong time to figure it out but after going through hundreds of reg edits and cabs I finally found out how to get the absolute best battery life possible. It will make it last for days without recharging and your phone wont get hot anymore.

Re: Maximize battery life...

The ULTIMATE battery saving hack/tip: Use Diamond tweak to turn off EVDO after 1 minute. Ran some tests this week...

Monday-Tuesday: DATA/Verizon 3G, always on (default). Showed 16 hours connected when my battery was at 20%. Push enabled, Messenger signed in, ~30 minutes of browsing, 50-70 texts, 30 emails.

Full charge Tuesday night (using fast charge).

Wednesday - Sunday: EVDO automatic off after 1 minute. Right now phone is showing 37% battery left. Push enabled (1X for SMS/email downloads). Messenger is signed on, even using a voip app called loudtalks. Whenever I open Opera 3G kicks in, for everything else it uses 1X. 3G automatically kills itself after 1 minute of standby/sleep mode. Current phone uptime 64 hours.

Running Silence Rom 9 with TF3D enabled, no bluetooth, push and beam enabled, 3G enabled (in comm manager). Power draw: 98mA without 3G active, with active 157mA.

I did not put the phone on any form of charger (never connected to PC, never plugged into the wall outlet).
