I think he understands how it works but his complaint still stands: why do web pages take so long to render on-device that it would be faster to render them elsewhere, take a picture, and download the bitmap (or whatever) to the phone.

To put it another way, it takes far less time to download a picture of a webpage than it does to download the html and render it.

It's not like people don't know this though. There are browsers that do render it this way so it all depends on what you want. There's no point in complaining about it.

A PC running at multiple gigahertz with boatloads of RAM on a low-latency, high speed connection versus your phone running at a measly 0.5ghz. What'd you expect?
