Experiences with HTC manufacturers warranty

I'd like to hear peoples opinions on how good/bad an experience they had with the manufacturers warranty (Touch Pro preferably).

I've had the phone a month and a half and the hardware keyboard is shot. I had it flashed to a custom rom, now i have it back to stock and relocked. I dont have insurance through sprint but they will replace it with a refurbished touch pro overnight if i go through them for $55... basically what do people think of sending it to HTC? do they try to fix urs or do they just send u out a replacement? would it be refurb or new? how long does it take? is it free besides paying for shipping expense?

any input is appreciated

Re: Experiences with HTC manufacturers warranty

I sent my wife's sprint touch back on Saturday. The digitizer was broken. It had the standard sprint rom, never tinkered with in that way. The impression I got was that I had to cover shipping and they would repair it. I felt kind of strange though, because I expected that prior approval was required before sending it.

When I went to the sprint store, they said they would charge to fix it, regardless of whether or not it was under warranty. Is that what they told you? It sounds like they were treating you better. Maybe I should call and complain.

In any case, I will keep you posted on my experience.

Re: Experiences with HTC manufacturers warranty

FYI....sending it in to the manufacturer will leave you without a phone typically for 2-3 weeks while they repair it.

Re: Experiences with HTC manufacturers warranty

i sent my phone back to HTC earlier in the year and it was such a bad experience.
1.3 weeks without a phone
2. I wrote down all the problems i had with the phone and they sent the same phone back with a data sheet of all the test done to the phone and said it p***** all the test.
All they did was hard resetted the freaking phone!!!!
3. I clearly stated the stylus port was broken and they overlooked it?
4. I was so pissed off and called sprint that night i got the phone back and they were nice enough to send me a new one.
you might be better off contacting sprint tech support and tell them your problems.

Damn, I have never heard of such a thing.... Take it to the store, get a new one and be on the way. I have a blown earpiece speaker and will replace in the next couple months for a replacement.

it was after the 30 days and i dont have insurance. The tech support lady said there is a defect with the TP because when she inputted the replacement in the computer, it came up with no charge. i guess normally when they send you a replacement, it comes up with a replacement price and they nullify the charges.
