Increasing the number of favorite contacts under People will definitely slow down the phone trying to flip through each one. There maybe another flicker-friendly program that will do that, but I doubt it.

On another note, I also am syncing to Google using the exchange server and it is compressing the high quality photos and making the look low resolution on my phone...
