Another Start Icon Question?

is it possible to have to many shellres files in windows? when i unsign the shellres.192.dll file I unsign it in Reshack, then the icon i use to replace it is a pictured of a duck thats an icon file (just testing it out) then I use the msigner and it gives me the warning text message saying it was not signed (the one the thread says i should get) i load it to the ppc and then use TC to drag it over. But when i pic the icon to use as in this case i just save the file as "duck" and when i put it in the ppc i drag duck over to windows and reset

the file with your hacked graphics has to have the exact name of the file you are replacing, or nothing is going to happen

i dont see my previous reply, should the icon i redo be named "duck.dll:" if i use a duck icon or should i rename it shellres.192.dll?

shellres.192.dll, it has to be named the same as what it's replacing

I have a Touch Pro with the stock sprint rom. My start icon is in shellres.192.dll.0409.mui. To change it, you must:


1. unsign it,
2. open it in the resource hacker (ResHack)
3. go to the icon group 4609 and change the icon to what you want it to be
4. re-sign it (mssigner)
5. place it in the Windows directory of your device.
6. soft reset


I can be more specific if you like but these are the basic steps. Is this what you are doing??

one thing, when unsign the 0409.mui file and try to open it in reshack it doesn't show up i'm guessing cause it ends in mui instead of dll. after i'm done doing the process should i change the file name back to 0409.mui?

finally yo i got it. phewwww! thanks so much. okay one last one, can i change the folder icon? like when i click on programs and want tools, can i change the tool folder image to a gun image by chance??

for folder icons, just put an icon.lnk inside, and have the .lnk point to the icon resource you want
