Welcome to the site, it is a great place. Some tips that I did not see anyone give you, that I would like to offer, first get some strong energy drinks because reading the stuff on this site is addicting. Next, bookmark PPCGeeks on every computer you come in contact with along with your phone because stuff is added here at an insane rate. Lastly, be ready to be amazed at what some of the people on this site can make these "phone" do.

Heres my Touch Pro for Dummies.

First, go to the the cdma section, download the unlocker, and follow any necessary instruction to installing a rom (i suggest mighty rom, but juicy and pretty much any new 6.5 build is good). Once there, install s2u2 and go to its settings app and set it to cut on and cut the device off on *backlight off*.

This alone will save you tons of battery life and improve your device dozens times over stock settings
