Re: Evdo Speed Tweaks For Touch Pro

i followed the steps and i did get an increase in speed, but now its up and down again. im going to mess with it more in other areas to see if it can be more consistent somewhere else.

checkout Wavezero's recommended tweaks (internet speed in post #6)

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=46702

also for the people that dont have a cellular line2, i had it the other day...did a hard reset today and now its gone. actually i didnt even have cellular line either until I used opera. my wifes phone has it and we are both on stock roms and have the same tweaks.

could the cellular line2 be 1X and cellular line be EVDO?

thanks to all!

Tried the tweaks in the first post with stock Sprint ROM. Connection speed decreased by 20%. So, had to revert back to original, and everything bach to where it was (about 650Kb/s in Chicago).

I'll have to give this a try. I've never gotten above .7 megs...

well i found out my problem...i was using opera which was loading it faster to their servers. Using IE and the speedtest i get 2004 kbps on a 1MB file using Juicy's ROM no tweaks.

Re: Evdo Speed Tweaks For Touch Pro

I tested quite a few settings yesterday but didn't see much difference. Actually, it seemed to be slower after the changes :disgust: Could it be possible that the TCPTuner program wasn't really changing settings because of other apps, like Advanced Config for example? When I changed my network settings using the TCPTuner I reset the phone so the changes would take effect and in the process of rebooting, I read a post that said you should also edit the "Retransmissions Window" using AC. So when the phone booted back up I opened AC, opened the Network settings and noticed that the TCP Window # was the original - 93800.

Any thoughts on this? Has anyone been able to *successfully* and consistently see improvements? If so, what network, what ROM and what are your settings? And what was your approximate speed gain?

Run the software that i provided (tcptune). Use the following settings for Cellular line 1, and Cellular line 2:

Rwin: 98300
Windows Scaling on
TTL 128
MTU Discovery on
Selective Acks on
Time Stamps off

As for Cell Line 2 that doesn't show up for me....guess I need to see that for an increase in speed

greetings. Im not saying all these tweaks dont work, i just know they dont work for me. After a few days of using the posted settings, my speeds were considerablely slower. Guess it just works for some, but not others.

Selective ACK is generally a good thing, as it reduces network overhead.

Probably pretty similar but these always get me the best & most consistent results:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Tcpip\Parms]
"TcpWindowSize"=dword:00256960
"TCP1323Opts"=dword:00000001
"TimerWheelSize"=dword:00000005
"TcpMaxDataRetransmissions"=dword:0000000a
"TcpMaxConnectRetransmissions"=dword:0000000a
"IGMPLevel"=dword:00000000
"TcpMaxDupAcks"=dword:00000002

and I'll tell you why:
Any time the Rwin (aka-"TcpWindowSize") is over 64k (+65536) windows mobile automatically enables window scaling.
-Thats why 98304 is working better than you stock settings.
-The reason why 256960 works better, for me, is because of the way window scaling works. Basically, it steps down faster than it steps up. So start larger... it'll adjust.

Just check out the picture. Granted it was in the middle of the night, but it is possible.
