The lcd side is tiny phillips head, the keyboard side uses torx T6 sized.

Yup, you need a Torx 6 [I think its a 6 from memory] to get the back cover off.

You can pick one up at your local home depot [I recommend the Husky mini-torx set, it stores the other 6 heads inside the barrel and is very comfortable to hold] :drunken:

Here's a pic of what I have http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

I wanted to double check the cables on my keyboard so I went ahead and dug into it to see how hard it is to get to the LED's on the d-pad. What a pain! The only color sharpie I had on hand was blue or black so my d-pad circle is snazzy blue now. I think I could disassemble this phone in my sleep now!

The hardest part is getting the case to separate on the lcd side. There's 2 spots on top and bottom where it snaps on. Once you release those it comes off easily enough. The rest is all phillip head screws and a couple of cables you have to unplug. If I have a moment of true boredom again I'll add pics to my keyboard thread of the rest of the disassembly.

OMG OMG OMG OMG! That is SO COOL!!

You HAVE to post pics! PLEASE! And the exact type of LED's you used, how you soldered them, INFO!

How did you access the front panel? Do I have to disassemble?

I'm gonna do the green/red phone buttons and a blue ring!

Notice the DENT above the back button:(

DENT FAIL.

Mod looks great though, I don't have the balls to do it and I've done my fair share of soldering

+1

but still a good read:headbang:
