i already took it apart and taped down the cable and the keyboard lights up when i slide it open, but it doesn't respond to any button i push... so i guess i need to find a replacement working keyboard...

For the record, you can get a physically damaged phone replaced at a Sprint store for $120, if you don't want to go through Asurion for the $100. Plus, Sprint's not going to cancel your insurance for the third claim.
