Poor Sound Quality

My build date is 10/18/08 (yea, I know - very old) and I'm experiencing pretty bad sound quality, but I don't know if this is just a characteristic of this phone in general...the audiopara fix *does* improve the volume, and it doesn't sound overly bad, it's just not very great. For those that think they have a "good" build of the TP, how would you compare the sound quality to other phones?

I have TEP, etc. Do you all suggest I get a replacement? I haven't had any other problems that actually bother me as much as this. the only thing holding me back is the hassle of getting a replacement itself, and potentially ending up with something worse.

BTW, I should mention, that the quality isn't even that great when using airrave at my house - when signal should be great.

I am also using Sprint Touch pro. I think HTC did not care about sound quality too much. If you use Shure earphone, you can hear very noisy sound. One adhoc solution is using a good volume controller.
My next phone will be the iphone or other manufacture phone which consider sound quality.

First how do I tell my build date? In device information my ROM date is 9/12/08.

That said - I think the sound quality on the phone is horrible. When I brought it to the Sprint store (a while back) - I was told that it (poor sound quality) was a characteristic of the phone. I wasn't happy, and I'm still not. I installed the audiopara fix and it helped a bit, but I still don't think the sound is clear and the volume is so variable. Calls tend to be too loud, and the speaker not loud enough. I don't even bother listening to music.

Anyway, I'd like to hear if anyone actually has good sound quality on this phone.

BTW - I don't mean to sound so down on the phone - there's a whole lot I like about my TP, just not the sound.
