Is WM6.5 faster or better in any way than WM6.1?

I see a lot of hullaballoo about it here, but I can't find anything about it other than how it has bugs and how its easier to finger it instead of stylusing it.

faster program opening

do you mean in programs like Resco Explorer? Because right now that has choppy scrolling. What about scrolling through the programs menu? Does it stutter to load the icons? Or is it more iPhone-smooth

i think u need to change your d3d drivers cuz that hasnt happend to me once using resco explorer...im doing it as i type in the windows folder and im not experiencing what ur talking bout

I mean compared to the ULTRA SMOOTH HTC Album menu popup. If you go to HTC Album and press menu, it slides and scrolls SOOO smoothly. Does Resco explorer scroll that smoothly?

the scrolling is throughout the entire system and its as smoothest i ever seen it, the reson you might have choppy scrolling is cuz maybe the rom you tried had still htc touchflo scrolling enabled and it overtakes the 6.5 scrolling engine resulting in the clicking type scrolling throughout the os

heres the list of improvements over 6.1.........

new scrollbars (nice touch over 80's 6.1 style)

new 3d style menus and highlight <----makes a hell of a difference!!!!

smooth kinetic scrolling (much smoother than htc touchflo and has the 'rubber band' feeling)

chome (more useful than its given credit for)

improved contacts app (pics in list and spaced out)

improved file explore app (spaced out)

waaaaaaay beter start menu (no more ugly white 'all programs' page)

improved tab menus (small but nice)

microsoft marketplace app built in

weather widget app

money / stocks widget app

live search widget app

new and improved Internet Explorer (flash enabled and full page rendering as well as panning support)

new slide to lock addition (hella nice)

full screen caller id / in call screen (only when locked)


.....................that should cover the basics lol / im NEVER going back to 6.1 after getting the full 6.5 experience, everything is much smoother in these later builds than what we saw in MS's presentations

I've noticed the stutter in the programs list is ROM-related. Juicy's first ROM with the TP2 manila had it set so all the icons in the list were pre-loaded... they didn't dynamically load every time you brought up the start menu. This made scrolling through it GREAT because it was super smooth. The next version of the rom added some "tweaks for performance and RAM" which had the icons load every time... kind of seemed like a step backwards in performance to me. Whatever setting it is, it seems to be globally accepted by the chefs, which is a shame

+1 & its alot better looking plus just a overall better experience...i cant see myself ever going back to 6.1

That's a statement that inspires confidence right there. But what does it matter if its good looking if Manila is on it anyway?
