Re: hardware keyboard issue photo essay a.k.a. i was bored

Like some ppl did i took mine apart and put it back together and i'd get it working for like 1 min before it died. So i felt it had something to do with keyboard cable so i tried bending it to make it really flat as possible and it seemed to work. If it stops working i'd just shake it lightly or hold it on 1 side and it'll come back to life. Its not perfect fix since anything i type will often have to wait for it to "catch up"

I had to replace my touch pro 7 times! most was because of the keyboard. I have to let the Touch pro GO!!

I believe the "catching up" is not a keyboard issue at all, and is actually an issue with the Windows Mobile Threaded texting application. The Character counter in the task bar the top is constantly being updated as you type, which is very taxing on the system, hence its flashing while "catching up".

Theres a registry edit floating somewhere around here that will remove the counter, and there might be another that updates it every few seconds instead of constantly [citation needed]. Also some ROM cookers have noticed this and since removed the counter from their ROMs.

Hope that helps with the lag.

Re: hardware keyboard issue photo essay a.k.a. i was bored

Just did this fix and my keyboard is working again! I really don't see how this would void the warranty tho, I don't see any warranty stickers or anything. This is my 3rd TP and I'm sick of going back and try to argue with the people at the sprint store.

As for the SMS word count lag fix here's the threat I found:

Re: hardware keyboard issue photo essay a.k.a. i was bored

This is interesting. I am getting the idea that all of the TP's with keyboard problems are of the Sprint design? I myself have a VZW model, and have always been a little steamed that I have a handicapped model and thus have to deal with it's slowness, and lack of ram, (I do have custom rom with adjusted pagepool, which does seem to help some of the speed issues) but am thinking that maybe it is an acceptable trade for what you Sprint people have to put up with. Please correct me if I am wrong. Are there any of the Verizon TP's with this same keyboard issue? (I have had mine for 5 months now with not a single hardware issue)

Yeah dude quality do suck. See with my luck my keyboard most of the time don't work then I take it to the sprint store and it works... so I have to argue with them both times to get a new phone. 2nd phone I got is refurbished. Kinda wish they have Iphones for Sprint...the speaker on them Iphones is just WOW, nice amount of bass to them.

if the fix in the original post no longer solves the problem you can try what i suggest in this thread: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=81085
