Re: hardware keyboard issue photo essay a.k.a. i was bored
I fixed my problem (having to press space bar in order for characters to show up) by taping the ribbon on the keyboard side. making sure it doesn't wiggle.
I opened my touch pro while it's power is on and I wiggle all the wires until I touch the wire coming out from the bottom of the keyboard. they fold the ribbon in half. which caused the short. Instead of replacing the ribbon/keyboard I tape it down with electrical type. This worked for me so far. hope this gives some insigh to where to tape the wires. |

I have the TEP with Sprint so I took the phone in to a local repair center. They couldn't fix it so they are giving me a Touch Pro2. I should have it on monday. This is cool! Its the phone I really wanted anyway but didn't want to pay $350 for it.

Bravo TheDoctor1971 ..... Hats off...
My Touch Pro keyboard problem (having to press space bar in order for characters to show up) got solved. I disconnected all cables and reconnected them. I did not put any tape on it though. The problem in my case was the connection below the space key. I pressed the connection below the space key and applied pressure from both sides using my finger nails. This solved the problem for now. The problem seem to have started since I dropped my handset once. I hope the problem does not recur again. Once again Thanks for the brilliant solution TheDoctor1971 |

Re: hardware keyboard issue photo essay a.k.a. i was bored
Ok I am now on my 4th TP and I have to say (just like Doc actually)... HTC fixed the keyboard issue. With the same amount of use and wear, I'm no longer having keyboard issues AT ALL. The ribbon used to pop out every 2-4 months and now it's pretty rock solid.
Needless to say, I'm happy HTC did something about there refurb units, though in a way, I wish it would so I could switch to a TP2.. lol Now I just wish they fixed the other issues, like my bottom home/back/phone/dpad thing is sticking up a bit now :\ |

sounds exactly like my current TP. The dpad isn't quite level. I'm gonna wait on the Evo anyway. Give Android a shot. It looks like all my apps finally have an android version.

Hardware wise the keyboard should be the same but I've never looked inside at&t's version so no guarantees.

Re: hardware keyboard issue photo essay a.k.a. i was bored
I have a Sprint Touch Pro on Boost Mobile. Is there anyway I would be able to go into a Sprint store to have them replace my phone? It's a long shot, but considering they own Boost, I just thought I would ask.
This fix worked for me originally, but now I'm having the same problem as others where it lights up, but no matter what I do the keys do not work. Hard reset, soft reset, nothing fixes it now. Has anyone had any further luck with any other method besides the taping method? Last edited by jokester7; 05-03-2010 at 02:27 PM. Reason: Spelling |
