Re: PLEASE tell me im doing something wrong before I ditch HTC all together
I'm on my fourth, all have had major hardware failures, none of which have been my fault.
My first one, earpiece stopped working after three weeks. 2nd - Hardware keyboard stopped working completely after two or three months 3rd - Data stopped working, hard reset/reflash did nothing, Sprint couldn't get a solution, they replaced it All the phones have gone back without a scratch on them, I take very good care of them. They stay in my front pocket, if they're anywhere but on my desk next to me. None of them have ever been dropped, no accidental slips onto the desk even. Compared to phones I've had in the past, these seem to be of lower build quality, but it's just to save money in manufacturing... something which is really coming back to bite them, I think... with as many as we see replaced. It won't, either. That update is for the european phones only. |

your doing something wrong...0-)
seriously though. you might be doing something like putting it in ur pocket or in a bag that is putting too much pressure on the bottom half of ur phone . my fiancee has gone through 5 moguls whereas ive had 1 mogul 1 TP. try storing it in a coat pocket or using the case and always think about how u store it from the time u get a new one. it would seem that u have inadvertantly stored it in a way that will damage it . just my 2 cents. |

Re: PLEASE tell me im doing something wrong before I ditch HTC all together
10 replacements is quite a bit absurd. However, I've had my Touch Pro for about 4 months now, and have already had to replace it once (graphics processor died). The other people I know with HTC devices haven't had any hardware-related. I'm not going to point at you and say it is you doing something wrong, but chances are slim that you've been given 9 bad "eggs". Try the above suggestion(s) with carrying your phone. I never put mine in my pocket - I always use the belt clip. When I get to my desk at work, I take the clip (and phone) off, and set them on my desk with phone propped on the case. I've been pretty happy with my HTC products...

im not saying you have to deal with it, but exchanging multiple phones because of it and to keep expecting to not have it happen again is rather silly. i think you really have to weigh what your options are based upon your carrier and plan, and what phone is going to suit you best. then go with that, and replace it as often as you need to. if you dont like replacing it that frequently, try living with the little stuff until a deal breaker comes along. its never just a matter of which brand of phone you want, or dont want, but rather the carrier, plan, phone features, usage requirements, etc all combine to make one phone stand out as THE ONE. im on sprint as well, and honestly there isnt another phone i'd use. well, i'd use the instinct but im on the sero plan so sprint wouldnt let me. so i'll live with the idiosyncracies of my touch pro. at least until the touch pro 2 comes out =) |
