Re: Anyway to fix or get a better GPS?
While all of those will work I really suggest you spend the money on either Garmin or Tom Tom....
(I'm not on sprint so I can't say how well Sprint Navigator works) Google needs to have a data connection to retrieve maps. You lose data connection you have no map displayed! (Not a problem unless you go into rural areas where data coverage still is sketchy) Both Garmin and Tom Tom lock up just as fast, you can fit the entire US map on a 2gb memory card (I have both installed to the same memory card 8gb), meaning you never need to download maps except to update the old ones from last year at a time of your choosing... and I think those are much more driver finger friendly than Google... I tried iGo in a rom long ago but I never used it enough to comment on that app. |

I personally love Sprint Navigation. You can change the settings from 3D to 2D. I don't see a problem with notification of turns, etc. It seems to tell me the next turn as soon as I'm on a road. (If you're not on Sprint, I can't comment on the GPS with your phone.)

GPSToday also has a speedometer feature in its map display function.

Re: Anyway to fix or get a better GPS?
I have Sprint Nav, Garmin and iGo 8...haven't tried Tom Tom although I do have a standlone Tom Tom unit...I actually like Sprint Nav, but as somebody else stated, you do need a data connection to use it...Garmin and Tom Tom can function with either aGPS or pure GPS, meaning they are not data dependent, unlike Sprint maps...pros and cons to both...Sprint maps in theory never needs to be updated because you always have the most up to date maps available over the web as you drive...the others are downloaded to a card and may need periodic updates, but also are not reliant on a data connection to function properly... I think Sprint Nav does tell you the next direction at the top, although I don't have it in front of me this sec, so not positive on that... in general, I tend to use Garmin XT... it has a really slick interface, including arrival time and a pretty spot on speedometer, as well as the speed limit off to the side on the road you are traveling on...
