Re: My touch pro will stop charging randomly while plugged in.

I had the issue with the charger not charging one too many times as well. I assumed it was a bad cord. It always seemed that if I played with the cord and jiggled it at the end, it would get connection. But I have some many of the cords, from having to replace my phones a few times (6700, Mogul, Touch Pro), that I just threw out those cords and used the other ones. I still have a cord in almost every room in my house and offices. But now I wish I would've kept the other cords... maybe it was something else...

Exclamation Re: My touch pro will stop charging randomly while plugged in.

Just got to thinking of another possibility.

I have my settings so that it has max brightness and no dimming or shut-off while using external power sources.

I'll try changing it to default settings for those and see if it helps.

It may be the screen causing the additional heat while doing the other said parts.

Thank you for your inquiry on your HTC Touch Pro draining the battery while not being able to charge since the device seems to be over heating. We understand how important it is for you to have your phone function the way it should.

The normal functionality of the device will stop it from charging if the battery on the device appears to be to warmed. This functionality is the way the device was designed. When the device is used for a extensive amount of time the battery can warm up a little when using the device. You may want to try these trouble shooting steps to better the battery life on the device.

Turn off unused radios, applications, or software. Change Power Save Mode from Best Performance to Best Battery in the Wireless LAN setting. Tap Start > Settings > Connections tab > Wireless LAN > Power Mode tab. Please check the sync schedule for receiving and downloading incoming mails. After work hours, we recommended you increase the time interval for receiving e-mails to save battery.
Tap Start> Programs > Activesync > Menu > Schedule to adjust the sync status in Peak time and Off-peak time. Set your device to auto adjust the backlight so that the light sensor will automatically adjust the brightness of the screen.
Tap Start > Settings > Backlight tab and select Auto adjust backlight.
In standby mode, WCDMA uses less power than GSM mode. However, in talk mode, GSM uses less power than WCDMA.
Start > Settings > Phone > Band tab, and then set your network type to Auto
Close programs running in the background.
Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Task Manager.

If the battery still seems to be warming up after trying these trouble shooting steps on your device you can ether send the device in for repairs through HTC or contact HTC Accessory department to order another battery for your device. We can better assist you with this inquiry if you contact our HTC GSM (SIM card required) Accessories department at 1-888-716-3594. The Accessories department is open Monday through Friday 9 AM – 10 PM EST. HTC CDMA Accessory’s number is 1-800-229-1235. The hours of operation for HTC CDMA Accessory’s is Monday through Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM EST. They will be able to provide you with answers to any questions you have about prices. We have repair shops that would be able to repair your device. HTC GSM Repair’s number is 1-888-617-1113 and HTC CDMA Repair’s number is 1-800-229-1235. The hours of operation for HTC GSM Repair is Monday through Friday 9 AM – 10 PM EST and the hours of operation for HTC CDMA Repair is Monday through Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM EST. If you are unsure which type of phone you have, a GSM phone uses SIM cards while a CDMA phone does not. They will be able to provide you with answers to any questions you have about warranty or prices.

*******, I hope we have answered your question in detail. Feel free to contact us again if you have any further questions.

Re: My touch pro will stop charging randomly while plugged in.

I have had my TP almost two months now. I have never had issue with heating or charging. I make sure I have no prorams running and screen turns off after 1 min. Last night battery was at 21% when plugged into charger and no programs on. After being up for 30 minutes I heard the phone reset, I saw the phone try to boot up but went black. The back was hot so I took out the battery to cool off not so hot it burns your hand. Put back in and phone would not start so plugged back in and phone wheel showing charge state so I pushed power and came bach on the radio turned off.
I am stock rom with radio 1.11f, battery hack, White flip clock, sensitivity hach on screen. I do not thing programs matter since they were off. Any idea from the peanut gallery?

Re: My touch pro will stop charging randomly while plugged in.

I have the battery drain issue with mine. But when my phone stops charging, it will turn off and start vibrating non stop. When i power the phone back on, as usual, flight mode is turned on, the vibration has stopped, and i have to restart everything (touchflo, etc).

Re: My touch pro will stop charging randomly while plugged in.

Here is something to check if your phone has stopped charging while turned on:

Click on the battery icon at the top of the screen.
Choose the battery icon from the list of available settings panels.
Under the battery indicator bar there is a checkbox that reads: "When device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to a PC."
Ensure that the box is unchecked.

This won't help with the overheating issue, but if the box was accidently checked at some point, the phone will not rechage if it is on and connected to a PC.

Re: My touch pro will stop charging randomly while plugged in.

battery overheats...wont charge...dunno if this was said..but when it happens to me, i take the battery out my phone for a few mins let it cool off, then put it back in usually charge fine after that.

But i suggest not using your phone while its on the charger cuz that makes your battery hotter
