i wonder if it does speech to text. it says compose but i'm not sure if that's what i'm looking for. have you tried it yet?

Yes, I have tried it and it does do text to speach. It will read just about anything you can get on the phone, including emails, menus, dialogs, word files, excel files, pdf files, etc. There is a free 30 day trial.

in the voice command settings make sure it is enabled and messaging is checked then hit notificationsand select announce notifications through device speaker.......

I see this option, but it is not EVERY text I want to be read aloud. I would like to be able to use the speech engine on que. What I would imagine being perfect is to be able to highlight text/paragraph/website, and just pop up a quick menu and select "read aloud" option and it reads whatever you have selected. Is there anyway to get a reading option like this? I know it has the capabilities to read, I just need to be able to read what I want.

For example, if I am driving, I would want to be able to select an option to read my text, but if I am at work, I do not want it to read my text (which could be private).
