problem with plantronics 521 and tp?

when i have bluetooth enabled and the two devices paired, i get absolutely no ringtones that come out of the phone itself. on my older plantronics headset, i do. i've deleted the headset and repaired it, and still the same thing. the phone will vibrate when i get a call/sms/email, but won't make a sound except through the headset. this is really annoying cause i don't always have the headset on my ear, and i hate having to reenable them everytime i get a call.

great.... I have a 521 & I'll be getting aTP tomorrow. I hope I have better luck. I'll let ya know either way.

It MAY be that Voice Command is overriding it. Go to Settings/Voice Command, tap phone then notifications. Try selecting the last one "Announce notifications through device speaker or wired headset only". Or if don't use VC then just disable it.

This doesn't really bug me as BT is such a battery eater, the only time I have them paired is when the BT is in my ear.

if i disable voice command completely, it'll ring while bluetooth is paired. this is weird though, because i have it set to only read the messages through the bluetooth if available.

when i receive a message with voice command on, the phone vibrates, but the only sound notification i receive is a beeping in my ear, from the 521 itself. then it reads the message, and i hear the ringtone for sms in the bluetooth, but nothing from the phone. on my old headset, the phone itself would ring, and it would read me the messages through my headset. i have it set to only read the messages if bluetooth is available. i don't want it reading them through the phone's speaker, but i would like to retain this feature because its helpful when i'm driving and i don't want to look at my phone. at least i know if its important or not.

this is really weird because my other headset, the cheaper 220, works fine. i have a 925 coming in the mail, maybe that'll ring and announce sms lol

OK, I got pretty excited about my new TP & completely forgot about this thread. I haven't had any issues with the 521 & TP. However, the silicone ear hook fell off.

I used some 3M automotive weatherstrip adhesive & it has stayed on so far. That's the only gripe I have with the 521. It's 100 times better than the Motorola HS850 piece of crap I had.
