I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
I came from a titan runing DCD and i guess i'm spoiled because i'm used to things responding right away when i hit it on the screen. now, i think i've given tf3d a fighting chance. i've tried it stock (without & then with the touch pro clean up cab), juicy 4.7 and now mightymike 4.9?? (i think. what ever the most recent one is). the X button never seems to work well, everything is always a step behind, and i always seem to be opening things i dont want because i keep hitting 2 or 3 times and then the phone catches up it sends me through 2 or 3 menus i didn't mean to go into. i've run the tweeks found in touch pro essentials and didn't see much difference. i'm about to download GC's kitchen and just say screw it to tf3d. it's a shhame because in some ways i really like it. it's just to slow.
before i give up on it totally, anyone have any suggestions that might bring me around again? anyone have a rom especially built for tf3d speed? am i missing a important tweek that fixes everything? one last chance. HELP! |
Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
Sounds like you need to disable it.

Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
I have to say that is pretty weird. MMikes rom has the cfc - compressed HD version, which along with maxed out buffers per the essentials thread should be faster then my version running on top of the stock rom - and mine keeps up with me just fine.
How much free mem do you have? You don't need a boatload, so adding common apps to the exclude list in HTC Task Manager will keep em in memory and really speed up switching. I have opera and email always loaded since I'm most often flipping between them, and (along with insane buffer settings) I still have 80MB+ ram free. More then enough ;) Or as suggested above, just disable it and run whatever you were running on your mogul. I hear that's nice too ;) |

i just found THIS THREAD and was wondering how can one tell if the rom they are running is using these drivers. right now i'm on MightyMikes latest.

downloading now. i'll give it a try. thanks

Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
I still wish there was a good way to completely remove it from the rom though. I'm hooked on nue217 with the extra button mapping, but tf3d is like a virus that sinks its talons into every nook and cranny of the o/s. (dialer/vol/txt/ect..)
No Sir, I don't like it... |
Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
i HATE TF3d also...it is terrible...i suggest pocket plus 4...thats what i use...pm me and i can hook u up with the goodies

Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
I'm soo tired of that answer. like I said i'm stuck on a rom that has unique features, that to my knowledge has yet to be available in any kitchen.
there are countless versions and tweaks of this app, but no one has ever posted a comprehensive way to disable everything tf3d. I fear I may have to do this myself, but I know very little about it. |
Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
well, i tried GC kitchen without the tf3d but it just doesn't feel right. i might as well have kept my titan. i'm trying MightyMike's new rom 4.9.5 and i'll try to install HD over it. i also found a thread talking about omni drivers that i would love to try, but you have to cook them in and i can't find an oem of them.
would changing the pagepool help? how would i go about doing that? also i'll try pocket plus 4 and see how that is |
Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
i removed it using erice's clean rom. it's one of those kirvin for the apache clean, or no2chem/dcd for the mogul clean type roms. where it's pretty much....nothing. Jus plain ole, default, regular windows mobile. and i love it like that. with over 100 cabs i have everything i need to dirty them up myself. a lot of people include oxios hibernate and pim backup in their 'clean' roms. i hate those. because to free ram i use quickmenu, and for backup i use sprite. i don't like having more then one program that does the same thing.
i do have three browsers though. but they have their three specialties in which one does somethings better then the others. so i pick between them based on what it is i'm trying to accomplish. i also don't like tf3d. it's definitely beautiful. but so is the G1 and the Iphone. but it's also, ultimately 'wack' like them too. I won't flat out call those phones wack though. jus doesn't compare to windows mobile. The Touch Pro for Sprint is the most superior phone u can buy in the US at this moment. |
Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
i run 48mb pagepool and it eliminated almost all tf3d lag i was getting except for the music tab.
|
Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
Well i have to agree with the OP. Another option is to use UltimateLaunch. If u take the time u can configure it to look almost exactly like TF3D except u wont have the slider across the tabs. It wont slow down the system and you will have the flexibility of using your own plugins on the tab. This means more functionality and quicker and more precise access to ur programs. What do u have to lose? Try it and if that doesnt work just disable the darn TF3D.

Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
I'm using Mighty Mikes latest with a 24meg pagepool and it's pdq. I don't use the music tab though. Spb mobile shell is another option. There are themes over on xda that look exactly like tf3d and real easy to install. The favorite contact page is a lot more finger friendly too. I have a theme and everything you need if you want it. PM me

Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
I just wish there were a smooth alternative to build your own today on a VGA screen.
Ultimate Launch had a significant lag transitioning between screens. On QVGA it was great, but whatever video method it uses, its clearly NOT the 3D/2D acceleration that TF3d uses. After using Manilla for a bit, I found it just as maddening as you guys do, however I have to admit that I can't bring myself to going with something that performs poorly afterwards. |
Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
Mobile Shell 3.0 is going to be announced next week. Maybe it will be a great alternative to TF3D.

The Home button tied to manilla, quirky Qmenu task switching, HTC Audio taking over the A2DP player... all that stuff about TF3D that drives me CRAZY stops when I disable it and reboot. Physical removal should not be necessary. |

Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
Has anyone tried ThrottleLauncher on their VGA devices yet?
I never looked at it when I had a Titan because I was happy with Ultimate Launch, but this actually looks pretty damned cool. I'm wondering if the reason no one talks about it is that it doesn't run well on VGA... but then again, I don't see any threads talking about THAT either. Anyone have any experience with this? |
Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
have you tried point ui yet? ive been using it for a couple of days and like it. Its pretty dummied down but runs as smooth as melted butter.

Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
You could always go with good old HTC Home :). I have a version linked in my sig.

Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
Try the version of Manila that ruskiyab has inside his HD People tab port ... it sped up TF3D on my device significantly. (CFC version)
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...9&postcount=28 As for the X button, that's a screen sensitivity issue, try boosting it and using TouchResponse for haptic feedback. Less propensity toward double-tapping things because you know the device registered the tap. |
Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
I hate 3d, i have nothing but problems. now i havemighty mikes and when i goto use certain apps it tells me i do not have enough memory to run the program. I know there is a memoy leek how can i fix it?

I haven't flashed my Rom yet. I'm trying to figure out what the best build would be for me and which Rom. I have HTC's WM 6.1 upgrade and use the HTC TM so I'm sure I have it. Since you have a Mogul, what was the fastest and most stable Rom you flashed? I gave you a thanks for your post. I'm new at this so I am giving out lots of "Thanks." |

I truly do hate that carrier for gimping stuff like this... Quote:
I thought maybe if it ran smoothly, I'd find the use in it, but alas- it just feels like everything takes longer to do. Not that TF3D doesn't run smoothly, because it totally can if you do it right, but rather that its just NOT USEFUL! Everything seems to take more taps and precision slides/movements to get the same data that would all be on the screen at once otherwise. Also, it takes hostile control of the top right corner of the screen (Qmenu won't show the battery icon there anymore), plus automatically places itself on top of things when I don't want it to (pressing an AVRCP command on my headset or switching tasks in some popular task managers will suddenly revert back to home when TF3D is running). Removing Manilla from the today screen effectively solves all those problems for me, but I'd like to at least replace it with something snazzier than average today plugins. This thread is at least reassuring in that I'm not alone in this. |

I never messed with the pagepool on the Mogul ROMs, but I think that would really be the only way to bump up the speed much (although Windows Mobile builds in the 20xxx series seem to be slightly faster than the 19xxx series). Personally though, the Mogul is so limited on RAM it's probably not a good idea to bump up the pagepool much if at all. Sorry if I don't have a whole lot of information to give you, I didn't really get into more technical aspects of anything until I got my TP (and I'm still way behind a lot of people here :P) I'm pretty sure I still have the cabs for stuff I installed when I had my Mogul though, so I might be able to help a little with that. |

There are plenty of fast ROM's out there. I use & like scrosler's ROM's but they aren't any faster than some of the other custom ROM's available. Scrosler's C kitchen left my phone unbootable two days ago, which also demonstrates some of the things you need to watch out for. ~John |
Re: I Hate Hate Hate Tf3d
I love TF3d.... it looks like my phones used to look after endless hacking and tweaking. It was nice not having to do it for once!
