Is there a current recall on some of the TP's or is this a rumor? I can't find anything about the recall...
There isn't an official recall, but if your phone has an ESN that falls between a certain set of numbers, you can swap it out b/c of the issue with the bad chrome. I'm not sure if the ESN range has been posted anywhere or not. If you are in doubt, you can contact a repair center and they should give you more information on it.

lol... If I were the service rep that took that call I think I would have laughed out loud
He didn't say he tried calling to get it done, he was simply asking if it could be done. It's not that outrageous of a question. I've seen stranger ones asked.

I have too.

I know he didn't call... just was laughing thinking about it if someone had. I wasn't trying to be rude.

I mean, right now, it's just a almost full circle crack and a hairline crack right next to that one, it's small but noticeable, and I read here that if your falls within a certain HEX range that you are entitled to a free replacement.

If you google Sprint Touch Pro cracked chrome you get a wealth of info on it.

I noticed some negativity in some posts above, of course I'm gonna ask the question, I still paid money for the thing, I actually paid for it in november, so the price was even higher then, and to see despite the fact that I've taken very good care of the thing, that the paint decides to show cracks all of a sudden, yeah I'm gonna explore my options.

Your best bet is to check with HTC but its still a slim chance at best that they will give you any warranty on it.

Sorry to hear that your phone is jacked up though man. That really sucks.

I really believe you will be referred to contact HTC, unless you know someone who has Sprint and can put the phone on their account and get it swapped out for you.

They won't do the swap unless its been active for 30 days. No insurance or warranty or other claims until 30 days... They don't give in on that policy easily.

That's true. It's not looking good for the OP.

Well, here is a better question then, if it starts chipping away, can I retouch it with chrome paint?

Anyone got any know how on doing this correctly? Could I touch up the crack with chome right now? It's not big, and I got a pretty steady hand, but I know nothing about top coating and all that other paint stuff.

They will only cover a non sprint customer if you bought it from sprint directly withing 30 days here is the agreement terms for all items.

Re: Regarding cracking chrome...

you would probably have an easier time finding a friend or relative that has sprint have them activate it and do a claim on it. but i wouldn't recommend doing that because its sh1t like that thats got us paying $100 instead of the original $50. (If ya didnt know the replacment program cost for our phone went up)
