Tethering is unlimited Phone as modem internet use when linked to ur PC. It is supposed to be a $60/month add on from Sprint for this type of use. With the ICS hack it is undetectable. Either use your USB cable or WMWifirouter to have your phone broadcast a hotspot like a wireless router in your house.

actually I get pretty descent speeds. about 1.5m down and 300k uploads. Same as basic DSL speeds I had b4. Good thing I had this phone last week my main internet modem died and I had to use this all week until the replacement arrived. Even DL a few movies too.. lol

actually i tried this earlier, and it was surprisingly fast. Interestingly, its much slower through the usb cable than over wmwifirouter. through the usb cable, it worked, but was obvious that it was going through a cell phone. After installing and configuring wmwifirouter though, I browsed for about 10 minutes, browsing multiple pages at once, streaming from youtube, and even using RDP over the internet to my desktop computer at the other end of the house. i was very surprised at the speeds. pages loaded just as quickly as they do over my home internet (6mb cable). I have to give a big +1 to wmwifirouter, excellent software, well worth 20 bucks.

There used to be a free version that isn't near as nice as the new one, you might be able to hunt down a cab for that. But really, the paid version is nice enough to purchase. I use it a lot, comes in very handy.

The newest one is great, I used the same keycode from my old version that I was using on the mogul, and it works fine. I hit about 8-12 gigs per month. I have only been asked about it once, I told them I listen to sirius radio and watch slingbox unless I am interupted by a call.

Re: Is tethering free (Sprint) with ICS Fix?

Sprint does have a piss poor selection of phones unless your a teen or tween.

I will admit though the last few times I've called Sprint, I've gotten an English speaking person.

I always considered unpaid tethering to be ok for casual use but if I were using it as my primary connection I don't think I'd tether.

I'm surprised it doesn't lead to overheating. Mine gets hot when I tether.
