Using Tom Tom in the US
Is anyone on this board actually using *legally* obtained maps for TomTom navigator 7?
I noticed that my old gps routing software of choice (mapopolis, which I had a legal bought version of from years ago) doesnt play nicely on VGA (text is too small to read). So, I went to check out TomTom7, which was apparently designed for the VGA disaplys of the Diamond and Touch Pro. Problem is, TomTom seems to not sell the US maps anywhere! I see on their site that I can buy European ones, or buy US maps for version 6... but I've heard v6 maps dont always work with the v7 application. So basically, the only way I can get v7 US maps is to pirate it?! Is anyone here using it legit? If so, how did you get it??

Re: Using Tom Tom in the US
I'm on TT6, which as you note you can get maps of the US, and also works great with VGA. Its beautiful, actually. I bought my maps when I was using it on the mogul. Was quite happy to find it worked so well on the touch pro.

The latest Navigator 7 app was MADE for VGA, with real full sized graphics. If I'm paying for this already, I want the most for my money! |

Re: Using Tom Tom in the US
There is a version of TT7 that works with V6 maps. I believe that functionality was added in repack2 or repack3.

FYI I've had no issues using TT6 in the car. It's much *much* better then it was on the mogul, running exactly the same software and maps. Go figure. Would you like me to post some TT6 screenshots for you? Edit - based on what I see here http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=por...t=news&id=5471 for TT7, TT6 is pretty much identical. Meh. TomTom7 have not been released yet. I believe 6 is still available. I was hesitant about buying 6 because I thought 7 was coming down the pipe.

I installed Tom Tom Home and it will allow you to purchase v7 US Maps and from what i hear it will recognize TT7 installed on the Touch Pro.
Check it out: http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=17&Lid=4 -s

Re: Using Tom Tom in the US
TT7 will play nice with TT6 maps. I verified this before swapping to GarminXT 5..... I hated having to add POI's.... searching for them on the Net is soooooooooooooooo much more convenient
