No signal while "Roaming Only"
 

I'm using the stock sprint Rom, with the SprintCleanup cab, and I just found out that the "Roaming Only" Regedit is included. However, when I select the Romaing Only option, I get no signal what so ever. I left it in roaming and drove across town and could not pick up a signal, Im pretty sure there are other networks in my area. Anyone had this problem? Thanks

I use the Roaming only option and it works great. Check your PRL you may need to update.

I too have no problems with the Roam Only option... I would do what vesty said and update your PRL. Nine times out of ten this is the issue. Especially when it is a farily new phone. (Only a few days out of the box.)

I have the same problem have had 2 differnt phones and they both did the same thing.

Are you literally getting no bars or isn't it letting you make phone calls?

Go to settings, comm manager, settings, select phone, sevices tab, roaming and make sure that all your settings allow for roaming and no call guard.

As far as your plan allowing it? I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure regardless it will let you make calls, they will just charge you roaming charges.

Do some searching around about adding roaming only to the mogul. If my mind serves me right there were some issues like your explaining when the reg edit first came out for the mogul after they disabled the function.

BTW your PRL I believe should be 60650. I've had to call and ask for an HRL update sometimes when I can't make calls while roaming.

I get no signal and cannot make calls, my PRL is 60614.
I've searched all over, did not find any threads on this.
What is HRL? Im thinking of calling sprint

well when i select it I get no bars it just keeps searching for signal. when i do the update prl it says no updates available.

You shouldn't be having this problem, i recommend using this registry edit to get roaming.

See if that solves your issue.

Not sure of the exacts on HRL, but it puts your phone back onto the roaming carriers lists. Usually when you get "We're sorry verizon cannot authenticate your device at this time, please dial *228 for assistance" message while roaming.

I already have that Regedit.



I called sprint and told tech support about the issue, he tried to add a roaming package to my plan, but said It already had one. Then I told him to update my HRL and PRL and he said he did.
I restarted the phone but still will not pick up signals on Roam.

I updated the PRL manually with the file posted, but still no go. New PRL shows 60650. I think we can officially rule out a PRL problem??

I think it must be your area because I have those exact same settings. Also I was talking to someone and that person gets an ev-do signal when he roams. Im definitely in a verizon and altell evdo service area and when I roam, its always in 1x only. At first I thought it wasnt even possible to roam and use evdo till he showed me the screen shots. That lets me believe it must be different in all areas for some odd reason.

I was thinking it was my phone but this is the second phone i have had and it does the same this. gonna try it out on my 3rd today and let yall know. maybe im just retared but im smart enough to follow directions and I have to the"T"

Well i figured this out while running a CustomROM and recall from manually editing the Roaming Registry that the Roaming Only option should be "Automatic-B"

If another value was named "roaming only" and shows "... and the antenae" then you should manually go into the registry and i think its change value to 3 and then rename value 3 to Roaming only from Auto-B

I even took another look at the Reg to make sure its good to go. The funny thing it that it will Roam if its in auto even tried forcing it in the area that it roams in but its still a no go for launch. this sucks.

Its hard to fix the problem because you are using the same edit as everyone else and only the 2 of you are having problem. I agree with saumaun did you try a hard reset? By the way the link to the edit and cab that i use i posted it below. post #4 & post #8

I doubt their is anything wrong with the devices. To me its looking like Sprint dose not have roaming agreements with any carriers in your areas. :(

I used to be able to roam with my KRZR before I got the TP and I have the searching for signal problem (I doubt it's an area problem, at least not for me).

Before I tried this cab and registry edit on the TP I tried it on the Diamond. I hard reset the device and tried the manual registry (didn't work), did the same thing but with the cab (still didn't work). I ended up hard reseting the device a couple of other times, until I gave up and finally exchanged for the TP. Same thing with the TP, only this time I've hard reset a bunch of more times. But then again the KRZR is not a ppc, so things might be way different...

I still don't understand... If you've only done 1 mod to your phone, do a hard reset. If the problem's gone, you know why.

What is your PRL number is on your TP, and do you remember the PRL number from your KRZR?

Oh wow... I'll have to get back to you on that one, cuz I sold the KRZR, but I might have saved some of the info.

EDIT: NVM I have it... the prl version of the KRZR was 20232
My TP's version is 60614

Could be the EvDO vs EvDo with data triangle difference?

Cool! I notice your location is PR. I think I know that it stands for, but need to know (city or county & State) so I can do some digging on those PRLs. You can PM your location if you want.

Where can I check PRL versions by state, city, or county? I just found the Corolada PRL Page in another thread. First time I've seen something like this lol..
