HTC Youtube app shutter

I have been noticing pretty horrid frame drops with the HTC Youtube app when it is set to auto quality or high quality and I'm using my home WIFI. The download speed isn't an issue, but it seems like the phone can't handle high quality video playback and wifi at once, has anyone else had this issue?

Re: HTC Youtube app shutter

This is because of the lack of D3D video Drivers for the TP. Myself and others have found that if you install the Diamond D3D drivers and set Youtube to high quality you can get a pretty decent frame rate.

The Diamond D3D drivers can be found here:

Re: HTC Youtube app shutter

I've tried both "ati d3d" and "juggalo d3d" and both have frame-rate drops....

Are you watching the video as it's buffering? What happens if you allow the whole video to buffer before watching?

Re: HTC Youtube app shutter

If you let the video buffer at least half way then it won't stutter.

You guys are smart!

That worked, kinda...
I tried 2 different videos, both are about 3 minutes long. It buffers about 1 minute worht of video then stops buffering. So I press Play, its smooth for about 15-20 seconds, then it resumes buffering and its back to being choppy.

Any way to buffer the entire video?

Re: HTC Youtube app shutter

Also, confirm that you have it set to High quality. Even with the D3D I have read that any other setting will still stutter.

I have so many posts in that thread... Let me just get the word out before anyone installs this that it DOES NOT give you access to the newer high quality files YouTube offers. There are two different levels of .flv files you can now access from some videos on YouTube- normal quality (default) and high quality. I have a few gripes with the claim that this file will give you the high quality videos when all it does is install a better driver. Those who had problems when playing the normal quality files they downloaded will get better results after they install the file, but it will not give you the high quality that the native YouTube application will give you.

I'm not bashing his program, I use it myself, but I just want to let this be known.
