when typing?

How do I stop the phone from showing my words I'm typing ? I have all auto correct optio and I turnedns off and it still shows my letters i'm typing in a black bar? It didn't do it until I was flashing roms and I flashed back to the stock Alltel rom now it keeps showing my letters I type in a black bar and I turned off auto correct and spelling correction.

Thanks for any help I tried everything I could find in settings on the keyboard.
