HTC Touch Pro Wifi speeds

I look at the Communications...Settings...Wireless Lan...
SSID is correct.. connecting to home router (WRT54G)
Tx rate shows as 54 Mbps... the rated capablity of router...
However, Rx Rate shows as 1 Mbps....

It does not seem to be user changeable...
Other wireless devices when connected to same point, have a higher speed.

Router is connected to internet via DSL.... 3M Down / 768 UP...
Now I could logically say I could see the reverse showing on the phone...

I was referred to this site, to pickup the "...enable the 802.11g on the phone ", which I did. The above numbers did not change!

Any suggestions/ideas or is it 'working as designed'.

When I do 'speed tests' on Toast.net with large or small files, I only see speeds in the 400-700K range, and the phone is indicating I am in EVDO area.

TIA!

From my experience. EVDO preforms optimal when using your phone as a modem. For some reason, the phone never reports as high speeds.

Re: HTC Touch Pro Wifi speeds

I think the OP is worried about his WIFI connection, not the EVDO speed.

I am having the same issue. My up speed is 54Mbps, but down speed is 1Mbps - as shown on the Wireless Lan / settings screen.

The odd thing is if I make a change on the AP where it has to restart - when the TP reconnects for a moment it will be at 54mbps. But then it drops to 1 right away. I'm like 5 feet from the AP and I have tried channels 1/6/11 - still nothing higher than 1mbps.

Any ideas on why this would be? I need to try it out at school and see if I have the same problem.

Re: HTC Touch Pro Wifi speeds

Its reading 1 because there is no data being xfered between your phone and the AP. Start streaming music or loading a photo heavy site and then go to the page, it will then show different speeds.

Re: HTC Touch Pro Wifi speeds

Dang, right you are. Never noticed that it scales the speed depending on activity. Thank you!
