Thanks for the thoughtful and complete response.

I am curious as to what gets installed in all these plugins, do you have lists you could post of what you're cabbing up? I'm still just starting to understand some of the layers of ppc programming. I have no idea what is being installed with a home plugin and where it all goes and how it gets called. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanx!

Here's a weird one for you, while I was messing around with the screen rotation I started getting the freezing issue. There is one registry entry in mine that isn't in htchome2, but that doesn't seem to make a difference with this issue. However. somehow it seems to be affected by the icon that it uses...I noticed that when I first added Rotate Screen to the launcher and it used the folder icon, it would rotate flawlessly every time. When it switched to the normal rotate icon after restarting the device/reloading the plugin, it would freeze after 1 or 2 presses if it was pressed too quickly. I have no idea why it would do this.

Attached is a list of everything in the HTC Home cab. I had to upload it in a zip because it is larger than the allowed .txt file size.

Thanks for that file dump, unfortunately it looks pretty greek to me. I really don't understand the internals of a ppc. is their a primer anywhere that could educate me? How much of this do you understand? what is a .png file anyway? I'm guessing it's the icon, but I really am just guessing!

Well, after mine froze up & refused to boot & caused me to hard reset I wasn't going to reinstall this.

I really got to missing it however & it was working perfectly in a spare TP I have, so I decided to give it another go. I don't know what changed, but this time everything is working perfectly:

I really love the basic black/white "old school" look & i love having weather panel show the current conditions right on my home screen without clicking on anything.

A png file is just a graphic file like a jpg, bmp, gif, etc.

I understand the basics of what it's doing, just don't expect me to be able to write a .inf for a cab off the top of my head ;) I use a program called MSCEInf to break down cabs, you might want to try that out as it's probably more helpful than just the dump that I posted. This would list the various things that are done by the cab in seperate tabs. You can get it here: http://www.codeppc.com/telechargemen.../MSCEInfEn.zip

Also, I was trying to look into the screen rotation issue more and I've come up blank so far. I did manage to find a way to fix the wrong icon showing up when you add the rotate screen at first, but the freezing still occurs once the plugin is reloaded and the screen rotated twice. I have noticed that the rotation seems to work ok if you wait awhile between rotations though.

How did you get this to say Verizon in the upper left hand corner? Mine doesn't do that.

It is supposed to list your carrier by default actually.

Edit: This program may be useful to you: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=21538
As a disclaimer, I haven't used it myself yet.

The next thing I'm probably going to do is the semi-transparent background, plus I need to fix a couple minor things with the fully transparent one. It probably won't actually affect the theme at all, so you shouldn't need to redownload. I just saved pictures at the wrong resolution, but since it's transparent it doesn't really matter.

Hey Banzai,

for some reason mine has just started having a space on the right hand side and the hole plugin is cut off . I can only see the 6/24 of the date, it is cutting off the year. I haven't installed anything different in mine at all. I am running SSK's lates rom. Any ideas. Thanks so much.

Could you provide a screenshot so I can see what you mean?
