Phone dialer question

Could someone explain to me the difference between the phone dialer and a dialer skin - in terms of the TouchPro and TF3D?

I don't like the 'phone' part of my touch pro. I've tried to like it, but the one thing I seem to like the least on my TP is the phone (ironic, huh?) For example, the recent calls above the phone pad are a pain - I keep re-dialing people. I can't seem to hit those little arrows next to the 'm' or 'h'. I'd rather touch the name and have it open the contact. It would be great if I had a way to make a call in speaker mode, rather than having to connect and then turn on the speaker.

Thus, my question . Am I looking for a new 'phone dialer' application or does a new 'skin' provide functionality differences as well as a different look?

Thanks!

Oh, and one more thing - when you have a bluetooth headset connected, is there a way to easily switch to the phone earpiece instead - and also vice versa? I have trouble keeping the bluetooth earpiece in my ear - and when it drops out while I'm driving, it would be great to just switch to speaker mode.
