Problems with reception - 1 bar, very poor call quality. Wife's blackberry gets 4-5 bars at home, and perfect quality.

You may very well have a bad phone. Have you looked into getting it exchanged? Any other issues with the phone?

No other real issues. I'm on a pretty constant EVDO connection, software is all working fine...

Also, at work I get 4-5 bars. Most of the road on the way to work is 2-4. Within around a mile of home, the signal drops to nothing.
