Been playing with mine for awhile.
12/10/2008:
Besides some heating while charging it's great.
I can even stream through PocketScrobbler and not discharge the battery while plugged into the charger for extended amounts of time, Something my Diamond couldn't do at all.

I'm babying this phone for fear it will get damaged and I'll get a bad replacement.

This is my second Touch Pro from BB. The first was approximately the same build date and had the chrome issue, wobbly keyboard, uneven keyboard lighting, etc. This one has a bad earpiece. It sounds almost like their is an echo with a kazoo...weird. BB promised this was a newere one, it was 10/12 when I took it home....teaches me to trust them.

I already posted my build date and such previously (on the first page of this thread, post #7...not sure how to link to specific posts), along with the issues I was having. I just wanted to add that my 11/07/2009 build date also had "Hardware version: 002", and I still definitely have the heating/charging problem. I don't know about newer builds, though.

01/06/2009, works nearly perfectly for now, no sluggishness to TFlo3D as some people complained about before. No squeaky battery cover, no chrome issues. It does however get slightly warm only on that black strip where it says HTC 3.2 Megapixels. The rest of the silvery backside is more or less cool to the touch though. I guess the clear plastic transmits heat the best, which is weird because the battery is pretty cool too, which means its whatever is near the camera that is overheating, probably the CPU or GPU or radio.

I haven't noticed any issues. I use BT a lot and haven't noticed it getting abnormally hot. I'll report back if anything comes up.

No problems so far. Although this was the third phone I opened at my local Best Buy. 3 others had bum keyboards. Space bars and enter keys that didn't depress, keys that didn't bounce back, etc. Weird. I finally got them to find a good one.

I've found that my device has defective WiFi. It can see and "connect" to available WiFi access points, but it can't actually USE them. If I try and open a web page it can't open any. Sprint support confirmed the defect at my local Sprint store.

A replacement is on the way.

Ive seen some reviews for the 11/20/2008 and they all say works perfectly, Mine is the same build and has raised home key and the battery cover is loose, I had to use a tape, also the sliding keyboard is loose as well, you press one side with one hand to close and the other goes up, you have to use both hand in order to get the normal sliding. The earpiece is horribly low without the audiopara tweak.
we need more people who just got their touch pro with new builds to give us more reviews about the new ones, because I dont want to jump to exchange it till I make sure there is minor issues.

Just today on my TP the text message section, and program section screen is SCRAMBLED in TF3D!!!!! Also in many programs the screen is scrambled...

Ive got manufacture's date of 1/7/09 and Hardware Version of 0002.

No raised home button and do have squeaky plastic noises around whole frame and battery case.

Have very poor battery performance but not sure if its just that the battery is too small for this phone or what. Dead in 12 hours or so w/ minimal use. I ordered the Siedio 2000mAh battery so we'll see what that does for it. I've done all the battery tweaks I can find and either they are helping some, or the battery is improving..??

Also battery and phone do get pretty hot when charging & talking at the same time...

Only other problem I see is that when I press Reply to a text message in TouchFlo and open the keyboard, the text message window opens but then is minimized to open the landscape version of TouchFlo. Very annoying.

OK, got my replacement today which is brand new because my first I had less than 30 days before realizing the WiFi was not working. This replacement has a Manufactures Date of 1/12/2009 and everything has tested out well. Including WiFi.

Calls going directly to voicemail occasionally. Not always receiving voicemail indications. Text messages arrive late and out of order.

I've tried Sprint tech support and a hard reset. Driving to the Sprint store to get a replacement.

Fit and finish is MUCH better than the 11/7/2009 one from Best Buy I started out with on 12/14. Had to wait a couple days for the new one to arrive at my local Sprint store, but they didn't hassle me when I pointed out all the problems with the first one. No more squeaky battery door ftw! =)

Manufacturer date is 1/10/09. This morning I found the phone locked up while charging. I did not have to remove the battery. Instead, I used the soft-reset, then used the regular power button.

hold on there now. mine has a manufacture date of 1/15/09 and it has a slightly raised front pad (about 1 mm higher off the home key side, sits pretty flush on the opposite side). there is a small blemish on my screen on the bottotom, slightly off center to the right side where it looks like its suffers a littlebit of light bleeding there. the keyboard isnt evenly lit. sliding mechanism stuggles a little(sounds like scraping). phone reacts pretty slow, feels slower than my apache (which is a major dissapointment).

also, when i was puting in the battery, i noticed that both water stickers (the battery and the phone) are white, with red lines going through. does this mean the phone was water damaged? i just got it today, and ill be pissed if asurion sent me a bum phone. I really dont want to go refurb :(

I guess i shouldnt be complaining though, for losing a 4 yearold ppc, 50 bucks isnt bad for the better screen

ahh, im sorry man. i wish that wasnt the case. if it makes you feel any better, i did get a cold screen. the white is pretty flippin white! i just wish it was better put together :neutral:

no, that is the new indicator. no more bleach trick. I can't say for sure, but likey all red/pink or maybe blue will indicate water damage.

1/10/09 build date and no issues. Batt is what I expect with this phone, gets warm after tethering for a couple hours, but not hot.

Just got another TP.

1/16/09 and it is superior to my old tp in almost every single way.

There is NO difference between pressing the center of the display vs the corners.

However, the bottom portion of phone (the D pad) is slightly raised more on the left. Build quailty seems to have improved, the lights around the D pad have a more blueish tint to them and the LCD isn't yellowish

did they give you a new one? from the store, or was it a refurb?

Also, is your entire screen evenly lit? mine has a small light spot on the bottom part of the screen a little to the right. you can see it when the screen is all black, otherwise, its hard to tell it was there. Seems like your issues are similar to mine, I'm wondering if 1/15 & 1/16 were produced in the same plant

Brand new, and i've just soft-reset to test your issue out and it appears as though i can see the light behind the lcd pretty clearly on the right side, but ONLY if i angle it that way. otherwise looking at it straight on i can't see any defects! :D
