Evertyhing seems to be good with this phone but only using it a few days will tell for sure. The only thing that I noticed was the new battery gets hotter than my original phone. But that may be because it is new and not broke in yet. The only question I have is, since they sent me a brand new phone do I return all the accesories and the old phone too? Becasue if that is the case there is no way that I can get everything in the return envelope that they sent. So my quess it no? I am assuming that all they want back is the old phone and battery. As a side note and kind of weird at the same time, I happend to get the new one provisioned and was comparing the differences between the two. And then I got a phone call and BOTH phones rang at the same time. Did this several times on my own just to test it out... and everytime they both rang.... weird... |

Usually they only want the phone itself. U can keep all the extras

Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
Ok well something ironic happened today. I couldnt get over the ROM message from SPB Backup about my ROM versions being different so I did a hard reset. And sure enough my ROM number was different and was now 1.03.651.4. Also when using ##786# if u look under the Software version (ROM) you'll see Firmware and Hardware versions. My Hardware version says 0002 as if to say there was a 0001. Lets list a few of those and see what the difference is.

This might be clear proof that they did some tweaking but mine still gets hot from time to time . Its not as bad as it was on my first TP but a marked improvement.

Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
I just thought my screen was dim, but from a previous post on page 1 I believe with the 2 screens compared I have the yellowish one, I have Total Commander but have not loaded it on my phone, doing researching first because I do not know the first thing about this phone or anything to do to it. But my rom is 1.03.621.4 and the hardware version is 0002 build date is the 15th of December, wonder if anything is different?

Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
Hey Scrap, after about using this TP for three days, I have to admit that this is miles better than the original one I had.
WMWifiRouter works fine for me, gets just as hot as the Mogul did when I had it. Long phone calls(entering almost two hours of talk time) doesn't kill battery charging for me. I am using the Telus Radio (1.04.05v) on dream_phyre's Dream 1.1 rom so maybe the rom hacks might have something to do with it. Also, as a previous poster before me indicated, my Touch Pro's hardware revision is 02. Don't know if that is important, but this unit has been working great for me so far. I just wonder how much better the new leaked Sprint Diamond radios could do for the Touch Pro's battery life. Someone will probably find a way to rip said radio out of the leaked Sprint rom so I'm looking forward to grabbing that radio. ***Edit*** Nevermind, somebody already have the new radio for flashing. Will happily flash to it when I get home tonight and post results in this thread and the consolidated radio thead. |
Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
I am sure your going to love this Scrappie. My original TP died it started with intermittent GPS issues then the little switch for the styli broke off completely. I picked up my second TP today Build Date 12/26/08 cosmetically perfect I will update later if I see any other issues.

Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
I have a 12/15/08 build date TP that has a hardware revision of 002. The battery cover creaked when using the hardware keyboard so I had to put blue painters tape on the inside surface of the battery cover. It also heats up alot when using wifi. After having it for only a week, there are lots of fine scratches / lines on the chrome that goes around the device. I've kept the thing in a Seidio leather horizontal side case and have used a black Oakley cleaning cloth to clean it when oil smudged. Also, the center button (in the directional pad below the screen) has many fine scratches on it as well. If I push up on the left side of the device, it slides up a little and sticks in the position it slid to. If I slide the right side of the device a little and let go it immediately retracts back.
Screen also seems very sensitive. When dragging the screen in IE to scroll the page, the little popup menu (that comes up when tapping and holding on the screen) often comes up. At the same time, it feels like I have to press too hard sometimes to get something to work (like the HTC task manager / X-button at the top right) and many times when I tap on something, it'll act like I tapped on the link / icon / file next to the one I actually tapped (even after doing a soft reset and recalibrating the screen). |
Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
Original TP Build date: 10/14/08
Recently received (Asurion replacement) Build date: 1/5/09 Ran both phones completely stock. This new one is a completely different phone. Lag when changing programs, moving through TF3D, and using the keyboard is GONE. Has not heated up once. Seems like HTC had no QC in the initial builds... |

Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
just got back from exchanging my touch pro. this new one u can actually see there is QC happening. home & back keys are flush. back cover still doesn't close as tightly as I would like, but does not creak at all. maybe with time it might, but the tape trick might help, witch on the original it didn't. both from best buy
original build date: 11/28/08 new build date: 01/06/09 hardware ver: 0002 |
Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
Just exchanged mine. Build date 12/24/08. Still very poor speakerphone. Very quiet and distorted sound even at full volume. Very annoying to have to install custom software to fix the issue. Any one has better luck with later build dates?

Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
I had my old TP replaced due to chrome issues and speakerphone crackling issues.
My new TP is 1.03.651.1, 12/12/08, 0002. Marked improvement in speakerphone (doesn't have the crackling sound that can be heard after any notification if you put your ear to the speaker, just an even "white silence") performance, speed is pretty much the same, haven't used the battery hard enough to notice any overheating, perfect non-raised D-pad, still have a squeaky back cover, and the keyboard is still unevenly lighted. Otherwise, I'm VERY glad I went for a replacement. |
Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
12/22/08 No issues yet.

Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
1-6-09 none of yet
|
Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
01/05/09
Much better build quality than my 10/27/08 one. Speaker sounds better with less distortion, d-pad buttons and power buttons are flush, sliding mechanism is smoother, all the buttons are well lit, left/right d-pad buttons are improved, and the touch response has also improved. I did notice that the screen on my older phone was a tad bit brighter and whiter. So far I'm very happy! |
Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
But the real question is... are the new builds good enough to compete with the Pre? ;)
|
Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date
Quote:
For all you know the Pre might have 1000 times more bugs than the Touch Pro. People were all raving about how great the TP was before it was released (and same with about any other pre-release out there). |

Of course I still have some issues, but they mostly don't bother me. The only ones that still annoys me is that my signal reception seems to be worse than it should be (ie other Sprint & Verizon phones can get signal in places that I can't, namely my work). What makes it even more frustrating is that my phone will even be reporting 2 or 3 bars while I'm looking at it, but next thing I know someone is calling my landline trying to reach me cuz my phone went to voicemail (perhaps this is a separate issue, I don't know?), and then I look at my phone again, it still has 2-3 bars, but then will drop down to 0, toggle between roaming, and stick at 0 again, then bounce back and forth between 0 and 2-3. I really hope they come out with a radio update that improves signal whlie reducing power consumption (but I know it isn't likely). I also I hate that you can't charge while using the phone for any extended period of time. This hasn't really affected me too much, and if it does, then I'll settle for an external battery charger, and a second battery, and just never charge the battery while it is in my phone. Sure, I may have to stop a conversation (or whatever else I'm doing) for a minute while I swap out batteries, which indeed will be highly annoying, but I don't anticipate that being too frequent. |

For me, I can't simply swap a battery in the middle of an important conference call... That's highly unprofessional--especially when it will take 5 minutes to get back in the call--since the phone has to be reset. |
