Touch Pro as your computer's webcam?

Think it can be done at all? I think that would be cool with a cradle if a program could run the camera on the phone as a webcam for IM apps on the computer itself...

Re: Touch Pro as your computer's webcam?

I'd suggest if its not built into the ppc im app itself it has to be streamed.

Checkout kyte you can stream cam from your mobile, like a webcam.

webcams cost about $5 to $15 now. I'd rather not use my very powerful
phone for such a menial task.

I personally used neither. This post just reminded me of this girl that uses kyte all the time, so I have no comments for either besides kyte seems to work very well for her.

Re: Touch Pro as your computer's webcam?

You could use Webcam Plus (http://www.ateksoft.com/webcamplus.html), which does just that - uses your phone as a webcam for your computer. But.... the app is kinda funky. It runs incredibly s..l...o...w.. when changing settings, and when you close it, it doesn't really close. Give it a try if you want, you can always uninstall it.

As far as using the phone as a general webcam (not specifically for a computer), there are a few other threads listing many more programs.

Re: Touch Pro as your computer's webcam?

Please excuse, the suggestion I made doesn't list the touch pro as a compatible device+ failed to mention that girl doesn't use a touch pro either.

Re: Touch Pro as your computer's webcam?

Livecast, IMO the most promising app, has very expansive support for many phones, including htc. The touch pro isn't currently listed but there are quite a few htc phones that are listed and can assume if it doesn't work now its bound to do so sonner then the rest.

If anyone gives it a try it would be good to know how it worked out.
