Standard laws of physics... Yes it will become lose over time. How long it will take, that depends.

Every time you slide the keyboard, you are creating friction which wears down the sliding mechanism.

Well, I mean, I don't think it should get much looser in a reasonable timeframe. My brother owned a 6700 for 2 years, and now my friend has had it for nearly two years. It's had the crap beaten out of it forever, and the screen has even separated and looks oily--like a few threads on this site...

his slider still feels like the day my brother bought it... so I think these things are supposed go last for a very long time...

BUT it is a different mechanism! Apples to Oranges...

Yes... the 6700 mechanism was more sturdy because it didn't have the spring. The Mogul and TP mechanism is probably less durable because of the impact of when it springs open.

You really think the keyboard will get loose over time, no matter what?

Look at this, it is just springs... The slider will have play in it, hence the gaps, and the wiggle etc...

Thanks for that link! Diesel is the guy that asked the question at the bottom there. Interesting that they didn't find an FM chip

Interesting, so they sacrifice longevity for the cool sprint effect...

The spring assist is pretty damn cool...

Do SideKicks wear out real fast? I've never heard that before--but they have the most aggressive spring mechanism I've ever seen...

I'd probably take the 6700 version if I could, but the keyboard longevity is the last of my worries on the TP ;)

Does anyone have any new information on when TP will be in stock again? Thanks

Some stores have them in stock right now. Try calling a few stores around you to check. [Well, it's Christmas tomorrow so try on the 26th]
