Real Stupid Move Please Help (water)

OK so i hated the back of the touch pro because it always squeak!!
but there is none in stock to exchange so i decied to put vaseline (grease) on the door the **** work perfect....
.......perfect .......perfect.....until i took it to the store for an exchange
the freaking water in damage indicator said i had stripes .....is there anyway to go around that?
