Re: XV6850 is the red-headed stepchild of Touch Pro's
Do you mind if I ask why everyone thinks rollover is such a bonus? The way I see it, the only time you accumulate a large amount of roll over minutes is if you consistently don't use all your minutes, so you have no chance in using up those rollover minutes, unless you happen to have a month with high usage. I can see where rollover could save you there, but then again, if I had a month of abnormally high usage I'm sure sprint would give me a temporary credit to cover it or only make me pay a few bucks for the extra minutes.
I just think its such a gimmick, you always see people bragging about their thousands of worthless rollover minutes, meanwhile AT&T is laughing that people buy into it. Maybe its just me though...

people can hate all you want but simply put, verizon dropped the ball on this phone. if you are arguing FOR verizon, saying this phone is better, you clearly don't have your facts straight or are just stubborn and biased. abt Verizon vs Sprint vs ATT for service coverage? I think that really has to do with the area the person lives in because coverage is different for every carrier... granted, some are more consistently better but if you live in an area that has poor coverage it doesn't matter if you're carrying around cray-super-duper-phone, you're not gonna be able to check your email or get a phone all So ya, maybe the best solution is to get a Sprint phone and put it on Verizon's network... but the simple fact that Verizon continually makes stupid decisions like this to ultimately screw the customers, out of gread, I am inclined to take my business elsewhere and try another carrier. None of them are immune to wanting to profit but Verizon is definitely top-ranked for BREAKING SHT to make more money. Considering how much money we dump into these companies on a yearly basis I think we're at least entitled to not feel cheated.

I have yet to see in this thread, or any thread on this forum, where someone stated the Verizon phone was better I'm arguing the fact that there is no NOTICEABLE speed difference having the less ram. And at least to me, that's all i care about. Did you see the video of my TP the day i unboxed it? smooth as butter stock out of the box http://namtaru.com/uploads/2008/Files/TF3D_Demo.avi Last edited by namtaru; 12-17-2008 at 06:29 PM. |

Re: XV6850 is the red-headed stepchild of Touch Pro's
As namtaru said, no one said that VZW version is better, in fact, it's pretty universally agreed that it's subpar to the Alltel/Sprint versions when it comes to included accessories and RAM. Per VZW, the GPS is being fixed.
VZW has honestly made big jumps forward in compatibility in other areas, even if they make stupid decisions sometimes (cough cough, touch pro). They're rallying heavily behind LTE as a universal standard for cell phones, and their OpenDevelopment program is the first of it's kind for any CDMA cellular provider (plus, they'll be adapting it over to LTE when that comes around). VZW may have extreme lapses in judgement, but who doesn't? Look at Sprint's smartphone MMS. It's there.. but still broken-*****. Why? I don't know! But it doesn't make me hate Sprint. So put your pitchforks down and take your lawyers off speed dial, the VZW Touch Pro isn't near as big of a deal as some people are making it out to be. Can't we all just get along?

I have a Sprint TP ported to verizon that I love, a co-worker of mine just bought the vz 6850. I think his phone is kind of homely looking next to mine (he does too), but side by side in speed testing they run about the same as long as you don't have 14 apps running at the same time (& if you do, you're an idiot) ~John |
