Re: Sprint Touch Pro - POOR internet speed?

i just think getting the same internet for have the price is good enough a reason to switch to Sprint.

I can't say Sprint is faster or vice versa, but using their slogan (which is not factual), is not a valid argument. "Sprint" isn't a measure of speed. It's just a slogan for an idea that Sprint's speed is fast. That's like when Burger King said their french fries taste better than McDonald's french fries. It's also the same when AT&T says "Network with the best Coverage", "More bars in more places". Of course, that's worldwide coverage, and other fine print.

Either way, it doesn't prove Sprint is faster than Verizon.

My Verizon tethering speed is in my signature. Done via WMWifiRouter on my Titan.

dude... dont put words in my mouth, i didnt say nor imply that their slogan is the reason to believe that sprint is the fastest. i even said to do some research and you will see for yourself. the reason sprint pushes that slogan is because of the fact that they excell in data so much. for example, get an air card that has 3g from att, and rev a from both sprint and verizon.. and see which one will have the fastest download an upload speeds. even though i know none of you have all three to do a comparison im just trying to say that if you knew a lot about each carriers strong points and such you would know that sprint definately has the upperhand in their mobile broadband network.

I'm sure Sprint is faster in certain area's than vz (& vice versa). The reason I switched from Sprint to vz after almost two long years was that Sprints coverage & service stunk however (I don't care how fast it was)

I travel a lOT & plenty of areas I would travel to either had no Sprint service at all or if they did have service it was very sketchy. Not only that, Sprints service is actually getting worse as they have lost signal towers because they couldn't afford to pay the rent on them...........

I'm not putting words in your mouth. All I'm saying is their slogan is just to give the implication that their network/speed/etc... is faster/better. "Sprint speed" doesn't mean anything.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - POOR internet speed?

OK Well ive been having nearly the same problem, ive been using my touch pro teathered and my current speeds are below. I see speeds in this range 90% of my time online and im in complete ev coverage according to sprints map. I do get up to 2.2mbs if im on between 2am-5am but other than that my speed sucks...and so i went to sprint and asked them about it and i was told that the reason it was slow was because i didnt have the 39.99 power plan for tethering, so i said ok hook me up with that and then they said unless i change my plan ( i have 6 ppl on my plan and unlimited data dont wanna change) then the service wasnt available to me. So according to them IM SOL...however she did ASSURE me that the only reason it was so slow most of the time was that i didnt have the proper connection and had i been able to ad the 40 buck a month thing the speeds woulda gone up to normal imediatly.

SO my question to you and others posting.... do you have the direct phone to laptop plan through sprint or are you just using internet sharing...and everyone who has great speeds are you all authorized and paid up? haha im curious if she was just trying to sell me on the plan or if its true

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - POOR internet speed?

I have Verizon with the HTC Titan. I have WMWifiRouter (this ports the Data connection to a Wifi signal). I use my computer via Wifi to connect to my phone to use the data connection. I did a speed test, and posted the result in my signature.

I do not have a tethering package, only Data package for the phone.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - POOR internet speed?

The reason why it is slower during the day is because there are more users.. Like traffic on a freeway in a sense.. That pay $40 for faster speed is I don't think true at all.. You are still connecting to the same network.. If it is 3G or rev. A, it should be the same speed..Sprint is faster in certain areas and Verizon (or any competitor for that matter) is faster in others.. The quoted speed in advertisments is theoretical and under optimum conditions.. No way to really acheive it unless you build your own private cell tower and restrict access to only you...Please lets just agree to disagree.. If you include Wi-Max, Sprint is fastest right now... And REMEMBER, YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY! lol

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - POOR internet speed?

Tethering your phone works just like a mobile broadband card. I have used both Sprint and Verizon cards. I travel the USA with my job and get various speeds. Sometimes Rev.A in 1X area's and 1X in Rev.A area's. Jim in VA has a very good blog called evdo-tips.com that helps explain why speed vary and other good info about mobile broadband. I suggest those interested take a look.

www.evdo-tips.com Doesn't work with IE7, Use IE6 or Firefox

but they told him it was twice as fast. I'm sure it's faster, just not twice as fast. What do you think?
