Sprint Touch Pro - POOR internet speed?
 

I just switched from Verizon to Sprint and when I switched, I was told that Sprint offers almost double the internet speed as Verizon's rev. A in my area.

So far, I have found that not only is the speed slower but it is down right HORRIBLE! On Verizon, I would have speeds averaging 1000k down and 350k up.

I have searched the groups and cant find anyone complaining about speeds like this so does anyone have any suggestions why this would be or an idea of a tweak, etc?

EDIT: I ran this speed WHILE tethered.

You might live in a bad coverage area for Sprint.. Also.. If the previous browser you used was IEM or Opera Mini, and you are currently using Opera Mobile, that could explain it.. Opera Mini and IEM are way quicker then Opera Mobile.. It's not so much a Sprint problem as the Web Browser..

call sprint or email them with this info. tell them vzw speeds were better, theyll help ya.(if posible) they can also tell you how the towers are where you live. how is wifi speeds? change your phone info. also, maybe you better wait. Lol

Try it tethered to your laptop. I think you'll be amazed at how fast Sprint's internet really is. The problem is that phone browsers, for whatever reasons, are slow as hell.

I agree... It's pretty much a universal problem.. Obviously, server-side rendering is a lot quicker then phone-based rendering...

I've noticed Sprint and VZW's speed to typically be very very similar. Never had any complaints about either.

What knucklehead at Sprint told you that? It's the exact same technology../

Yeah I'd go back to the salesperson and complain they sold you a phone with false promises, but I'm a complainer :)

Salespeople will tell you some pretty far fetched bs sometimes. I used to love listening to the computer guys at circuitcity or bestbuy try and sell me computers.

its like the hot bartender being nice to you, she works for tips. ( not dont smoke in bed type) sales people work on comission.
