Not twice as fast... Unless they were comparing rev. A and 1x.. I could see a sales person confusing this (sadly)

I have searched the groups and cant find anyone complaining about speeds like this so does anyone have any suggestions why this would be or an idea of a tweak, etc?

EDIT: I ran this speed WHILE tethered.

Try installing the "Telus V1.04.05V Radio R". I'm not sure if this will help with data speed but it definitely increased the signal strength of my Sprint TP. I'm just guessing that with a stronger signal you'd have a better chance at accessing the Rev A network in your area. I could be wrong though.

I do get up to 2.2mbs if im on between 2am-5am but other than that my speed sucks...and so i went to sprint and asked them about it and i was told that the reason it was slow was because i didnt have the 39.99 power plan for tethering, so i said ok hook me up with that and then they said unless i change my plan ( i have 6 ppl on my plan and unlimited data dont wanna change) then the service wasnt available to me. So according to them IM SOL...however she did ASSURE me that the only reason it was so slow most of the time was that i didnt have the proper connection and had i been able to ad the 40 buck a month thing the speeds woulda gone up to normal imediatly.

SO my question to you and others posting.... do you have the direct phone to laptop plan through sprint or are you just using internet sharing...and everyone who has great speeds are you all authorized and paid up? haha im curious if she was just trying to sell me on the plan or if its true
I pay, and have paid, the 40 bucks a month fee for the PAM plan for some time now, and I can tell you that I think that this suggestion by the Sprint agent is nonsense.

For what it's worth, my speeds have consistently been similar to what you've posted.

Not for nothing, but why is it that day after day after day I read about Sprint customer service representatives offering bad information, and promises which inevitably are broken?

Where can I find what you're talking about? Does it have any negative impact? Is it just a cab I can install and uninstall?

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - POOR internet speed?

Ive had the opportunity to use both Sprint and Verizon networks and just in a general common observation Sprint seemed faster. I can definitely say that verizon is not twice as fast as Sprint. And I can also say that Sprint in general has better data speeds mosts of the time. Since our phones and programs are becoming more data intensive, I would say stay with Sprint to the OP. I travel alot as well and Ive never really had a problem with my Sprint signal. I use a sony tt mini vaio that has an embedded Sprint connection and the data speeds r so reliable with Sprint that i carry that thing around like an extra cell phone. Thats why it seems like Sprint carries alot of major businesses bcuz their data connection really is the best in terms of REAL WORLD USE.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - POOR internet speed?

all i have to say is Sprints EVDO coverage is way better then verizons. OVERALL that is. plus if you ever want to get an air card from verizon...they say its unlimited for like 59.99 if you have voice service with them...read the fine print its really only 5GB a month lol.... but that was a little off subject sorry lol

This is an updated radio, it can be found here. I believe your phone would need to be unlocked before running this, but all you have to do is connect to your pc through activesync and run the Rom Update Utility from your pc.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - POOR internet speed?

Lol, I'm surprised Exil3d hasn't shown up to give his $2 (not 2 cents), on this Sprint vs. Verizon debate.

P.S. Verizon is better!!

Sprint has the 5GB limit as well. That's somewhat of a bone of contention with me - Sprint, don't say "unlimited" where "unlimited" is defined as anything other than "if I download 24/7 for the entire month at the maximum speed available in my area, I won't be stopped".

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - POOR internet speed?

Sprint does have the fastest network on average.. I think cnet or pcmag did a comparison.. Verizon spends more money on cell coverage because they have more rural markets and sprint spends more on data speed because they have the most corporate customers.. And lmao at the guy who said sprint was losing signal because they sold towers.. Sprint sold the towers because towers are property, which makes them a real estate investment. A telecom company having hundreds of millions in real estate is not the best idea, so sprint did what VZW, At&t, and Tmo did a while ago and sold off some towers for cold hard cash.. If you are gonna believe everything you read you must weigh the source and maybe even do research.. That article was written to get you to read advertisements not to give you unbiased information.. Since nextel is killing sprint neutral articles are going to be given a negative spin to get more people to read them. Since Vzw is doing great the same info would not have made the news (it didnt when it happened) since it could not have been spun in a positive or negative light... Sprint selling the towers is a bad thing because they should have done it when VZW did so the value would have been higher... You guys can use google it works pretty good...
