Re: I'm really starting to love the Touch Pro

I love my TP! I have no issues with it whatsoever!

Re: I'm really starting to love the Touch Pro

Good to see the TP working out for you after switching back from your G1.

Even though this is my first so-called "smartphone," so I'm not the most critical/informed guy, I gotta say that after 1+ month of use this phone really is impressing me too. It has its flaws and quirks but it is a really versatile and powerful device and I'm glad I found out about it, homed in on it as my next choice and then took the leap. I expect that over time it'll become even better and more indispensable to me.

For a first smartphone... I LOVE it. But just seeing this phone (like I said it's my first "smartphone") makes me wonder what all those other cool phones out there can do. But luckily, I stick with the phone I have until it's absolutely necessary to change it. So all in all, I'm another satisfied TP customer.

I think when Android comes out on Sprint (assuming it doesn't have the same stupid problem where phone calls can't interrupt data) I'll definitely be all over that. Android, while not as flexible as WinMo is infinitely more usable as an OS. Infinitely. So while I love the Touch Pro hardware and it's become very usable with SPB Pro, it's still no G1. So I'll definitely jump ship at that point. Or flash my Touch Pro (preferable) if they ever get Android running 100%.

How come? From some reviews that I've read, Android seems more locked down than WM, and wound up being far from the open-ended, open-kernel os that everyone had expected it to be. I haven't used a G1, so I'm only going by second hand info, but I like to get as much info as possible from as many viewpoints as possible.

I've used both. And to me the whole open vs. closed thing doesn't mean much to me. Windows, in theory, is less open than Linux. But that wasn't even the reason I liked the G1 better. I like the G1 better because you can tell it was a phone built from scratch to be a phone. It does have the legacy of a Palm or a Windows Mobile and thus it's very easy to use. Nice big buttons, simple UI, just a pleasure to use.

Don't get me wrong, as far as smartphones go, I'm really loving the Touch Pro. But the touch screen interface just isn't as usable as the G1. Tiny ok buttons, tiny x buttons. Tiny drop downs, tiny text boxes. It's just not as easy to use as the G1. Plus Android is ridiculously responsive. Faster than Windows Mobile and faster than Palm.

You and me both. This is my first smartphone as well and the more I play with my TP the more I become aware I have probably the best phone on the block
