I installed the drivers but I can't tell if there's an increase in performance. I'll wait for a hard reset to do a side-by-side comparison.

There isn't any difference that I can see in performance. I'm going to run it for a day or so though since there doesn't seem to be a negative effect to performance either.

Good read. To be honest, I never really messed with HTC Album, but maybe I'll start. The blue flicker on coreplayer drives me nuts, and directdraw with tv out is unbearable to watch. How is the video in HTC Album when paired with the TV out cables?

Also, the article said that the omnia had the drivers needed. Are these files we can extract from the device and place on our own? Are these for video playback only or for 3D acceleration as well?

What are the differences between the ATI drivers and the Juggalo D3D drivers pulled from the Omnia? Does one suppurt 2D better than the other since the Omnia D3D drivers are for Direct 3D?

Curious..... Which is better.

Re: Graphics Performance issues?

The Omnia uses a Marvell processor, so none of the Qtv/Qualcomm issues come into play. The d3dm drivers from the Omnia are much better than the ones HTC ships their devices with, but not many programs use d3d and there will be no effect on 2d performance at all. Also, the d3d drivers are a software rendering approach, whereas proper Qtv support would utilize the graphics hardware on the Qualcomm chip.

In short, there's not much you can do about it other than wait for a new device. Using WMP/HTC Album along with proper video encoding will make video watchable though. I say screw SnapDragon. Bring me Tegra.

Re: Graphics Performance issues?

I've found the ATI drivers to have some performance issues - TouchFlo seems quite a bit slower for me, as does Opera scrolling, after the initial few hours. A hard reset fixed that, and I haven't had the issues since after not installing them again.
