I might be coming with you as well. I've been following the Touch Pro feedback pretty closely because it's the ONLY Sprint smartphone I am interested in. I'll give it a couple months to see how things like battery life hold up.

I have 3 lines with Sprint on a family plan and I'm out of my contract with all three. FREE AGENT BABY!

And to add to Sprint's dismal smartphone selection, I've started to experience dropped calls in my home for the first time in 8 years with Sprint.

I'll admit if the darn thing worked as advertised I'd be a happy clam, but the level of frustration is making me feel like jumping ship just to spite them. And I don't say that lightly! I have been with Sprint for 12 years or so and have 5 lines of service plus a data card. I love the data card and would keep it, and most of my employees phones are fine. But I just can't seem to get a working phone that fits my needs and or works at the same time.
Have you visited the threads with all the "TouchPro Essentials"...there's a battery hack there that helps with batt life. The heat issue is something that all of us are experiencing. That seems to be a hardward issue across the board. As for the not charging due to the heat...it was mentioned in the forum as a safety feature built into these batteries so it doesn't explode. There are a couple of things that can be done if you're into a work around...keep the keyboard slid out and keeping the stylus out of the slot during rechrge will help dissipate the heat. I keep mine in direct line of fire of my laptop cooling fan. I got over my frustrations and dealt with the issues...but if it IS such a "deal breaker" for you...I'd say move on...but these issues you're having is across the board. Oh, the battery...turn off the email push...or lengthen the amount of time before it checks the network for new mail...I keep my bluetooth turned off unless I need it...all these things will help

Batteries need time to settle in, out of the box performance for a new battery is horrible for the first week...

Re: Got My Replacement Today From Sprint..

You keep mentioning the battery life on the iPhone being better... first you say slightly, then you say significantly... Which is it?
IMO... maybe slightly, but not significally - since my friends that have them have to charge their phones every night just as we do. Maybe if you turn off 3g and do the other little tricks just like we have for WM phones.
It's unfortunate that you've experienced problems with the touch pro, but you can't compare a defective phone to another phone's paper specs. You claim your first phone only had 1 hr in standby? And you also say your replacement isn't any better? That's bad luck right there. I just can't understand how someone can get two TPs that only get 1hr in standby... In any case, it's not normal so you shouldn't judge it as such.
People on both sides complain about battery life and have all these tricks to get around them. I get between 1-1.5 days with light-moderate use on the stock rom now that i'm not playing with the phone all day and that's perfectly fine with me. It's either the same or a little better than my mogul and i had the 10% increased extended battery on that brick. Keep in mind i get a full day even with 3 or 4 different UIs running all day (don't ask, i love having choices ha) and its battery life is still comparable to a phone that has only one kind of UI. Now i don't own an iPhone, so i cant say for sure how comparable the life is... but like i said, my friends HAVE to charge their iPhones every night just like i do...
If you can't get a proper phone from Sprint, then maybe you should jump ship... but just remember you're going to a more expensive carrier and a phone that comes with problems of its own. You will also be experiencing more dropped calls. Maybe you should get a hold of a working TP first before you make your decision. At least 96% of us aren't running around with a TP that's only getting 1hr in standby. If you like WM's customization and freedom then i have a feeling you'll regret your choice... but i hope you'll find something out there that'll make you happy and goodluck figuring it out.

note: if you liked the touch, did you try using one of the bigger soft keyboards and skins out there??
